After the United States and other nations that recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, another country joins, albeit a small island country: The island country of Nauru in the South Pacific. Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz praised the move, which he states is “a long fruit-bearing move”.
The recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was launched by the historic recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by US President Donald Trump. According to Katz, the recognition of the capital strengthens the status of Jerusalem and he continues working to persuade other nations to follow suit.
According to Google, Nauru is a tiny island country in Micronesia, northeast of Australia, which had a population of 13,649 in 2017.
