Chareidim Targeted by Arabs Throwing Rocks Near Shar Yaffo

There has been an increase in the number of attacks perpetrated against Jews walking along the promenade leading to Shar Yaffo in Jerusalem’s Old City by Palestinians. On Monday, two chareidi youths were attacked by a pair of Palestinians throwing rocks at them near Shar Yaffo. The attackers also shouted expletives at them.

In his description of the attack, one of the victims explains he was walking with a friend during the morning hours when attacked in the promenade leading to Shar Yaffo. He was hit in a shoulder, adding “It was hurting me for hours. I called a Honenu attorney, who told me to file a complaint with police in the hope the attackers will be apprehended”.

Honenu sent an urgent letter to police, stating the attack is yet another case of anti-Semitism. They also informed police they the victims are able and willing to identify the attackers, who they saw.

When one of the victims asked if he can have the file number to follow the case, he was told by the policeman taking his statement that he needn’t bother because the chance is the attackers will never be caught, and therefore, the case will be closed.

In his letter to police, Honenu also had harsh words for the attitude of the policeman who took the statement from the victim, as he was quite certain the case would be closed without apprehending the attackers despite the fact there are hundreds of surveillance cameras throughout the Old City.
