After officials learned a Kiryat Gat kindergarten separated the Ethiopian children from all others, Minister of Education Rabbi Rafi Peretz ordered the facility shut down and to make certain all the children are treated equally in the new setting.

On Monday evening, officials made the final decision, with the minister ordering the director-general of that district, Shmuel Abuav, to place the children in other kindergartens in the city and make sure they are treated equally. MK (Blue & White) Penina Tamanu led the battle against the racist policy in the kindergarten.

Minister Peretz condemned the gender separation, citing the ministry’s absolute opposition to it, to dare to permit such racism to continue in society today.
