IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi on Tuesday announced the launching of a new reserve duty division headquarters which will be in place by 2010.
The new division headquarters is intended to improve coordination of land troops. The military commander also explained that work is progressing on completing the new reserve duty infantry brigade, which is slated to become reality by the end of this Gregorian year.
The new realities are only some of the lessons learned from the 2006 Second Lebanon War. Following the war, IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz was compelled to resign and Ashkenazi was called out of retirement to rehabilitate the military.
