Indictment Likely in ‘Political Appointments’ Investigation Against Olmert

olmertf.jpgPolice involved in the investigation against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert pertaining to his tenure as minister of industry & trade, alleging he made illegal political appointments. Police investigators are signaling there is sufficient factual evidence in the case to move ahead with a criminal indictment here, as well as in some of the other investigations against the prime minister. Police involved in the case do cautiously add that before a final recommendation can be made to the attorney general, Olmert must be questioned “a number of additional times”, without giving an exact number.

On Friday, the prime minister was questioned by police for 2.5 hours in another case, with police stating that to date; Olmert hasn’t succeeded in disproving most of the allegations against him. Police informed the prime minister to budget his schedule to permit five additional questioning sessions.
