Election Scene Looking Good for Israel’s Druse Community

According to 2008 government statistics, there are 120,000 Druse citizens, comprising 1.6% of the Israeli population. The way things appear, at least according to the polls, the Druse representation in the 18th Knesset however will be significantly higher however, 4%, since in all likelihood, five members of the Druse community will be part of the next 120-seat Israeli parliament.

That is not to say they will all see eye-to-eye on political and security issues since they are seated in an array of parties, including Kadima, Likud, Labor, Yisrael Beitenu and the Arab Balad Party.

All however are situated in ‘realistic positions’ and barring any surprises, will be MKs in the next Knesset.
