A resident of Betar Illit in his 30s, a Breslov Chossid, last Thursday was assaulted, beaten and robbed as he was in a forest near the Yehuda community, engaged in hisbodidus, as is the minhag of Breslover Chassidim.
 
Three Arab males approached him and began beating him and made off with a “large sum of money” that he was carrying. They punched him, knocked him down and kicked him down a hill about 10 meters (yards). He was unable to call for assistance. Baruch Hashem, another chossid was making his way to the forest later on and discovered him on the ground.
 
MDA and Hatzolah were called, reporting that while his physical injuries were light, the trauma of the event will most likely be long-lasting. The victim was transported to a hospital and police launched an investigation.
 
Officials urge persons to avoid being alone in the forest during nighttime hours – stressing the importance of following the advisory following the report of this incident.
