Israeli Indicted for Working for PA Intelligence

A-Tur resident Fahmi Shabaneh, 48, was indicted in a Jerusalem court on Tuesday, facing charges for his role as a senior PA (Palestinian Authority) intelligence officer.

The Jerusalem resident, who holds Israeli citizenship, is in violation of an Israeli law prohibiting citizens from joining foreign intelligence services. The indictment states that Shabaneh, who serves as a senior officer, also recruited Mutasam Abu Ganem, who provided information to the PA intelligence gathering agency.

The state requested that the suspect be held in custody without bail pending the outcome of the criminal trial against him.
