French officials are concerned over Russia�s policies, preparing to close a deal for advanced weapons with Iran. Russia is willing to sell Iran advanced S-300 and S-500 surface-to-air missiles, a reality that is cause for concern to all western nations.

French officials point out that such a deal would be in violation of UN Security Council decision, which call for an increased boycott against Iran, as well as a halt of weapons sales to Iran.

The French concerns follow a secret visit to Russia last week by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, which is believed to have been connected to other Russian weapons deals, with Syria, providing Damascus with advanced anti-aircraft missiles, a system that Israel fears will shift the regional balance of power in favor of Israel�s enemies.

Intelligence officials also fear weapons sold to Syria will eventually find their way in Hizbullah and Iranian hands.
