114-Year-Old Israeli Man Enters a Senior Citizen Home

rd.jpgHe was 20 when WW1 began and 44 during the Holocaust. As such, there not much that can take R’ Meir David Fur by surprise, today 114, as he made the move to enter a senior citizen complex. He is interviewed in the Hebrew weekly, Sha’ah Tova magazine. R’ David moved into the Gan David home in Rechovot. Prior to moving into the facility about two months ago, he was living with his son, for 19 years.

Salim, 69, his youngest son, with whom he lived, explains that his father maintains a clear mind as is evident by participants in the daily shiur in the home, exhibiting an understanding in the ‘nigla’ and the ‘nistar’.

Unfortunately, he had to bury six of his children to date, and only those 80 and younger are still alive.

During the Holocaust and the War of Independence, David worked for the Mossad, quietly working to bring Iranian Jews to Eretz Yisrael. He was a longtime shul gabbai. He was 60 when he brought his family to Eretz Yisrael from France. According to family members, he has been composing songs in Persian and Aramaic for many years.

  1. Did he ever give any interview about his lifestyle? or talk about what his diet was like? Did he eat everything or was he cautious? I’d love to know. He looks great.
