Jordan’s King Setting Stage Ahead of White House Visit

Jordan’s King Abdullah II is setting the stage for a warm White House welcome ahead of his upcoming trip to Washington, attacking Israel and the policies of the current administration.

As he plans to attend the nuclear conference together with US President Barak Obama, the Jordanian monarch realizes joining the international stage attacking Israel will only serve to enhance the welcome he receives from the American leader, who has focused his Mideast foreign policy efforts on placing Israel in the corner, portraying the current administration as an extremist one unwilling to make concessions towards achieving peace with Israel’s neighbors.

Speaking with the Washington Post, Abdullah stated Israel determination to continue construction in eastern Jerusalem has resulted in a deterioration in relations between Jerusalem and Amman, to a level that has not been known since the signing of a peace agreement in 1994.

He went on to boast the unprecedented relations between Amman and Damascus, hinting at this shift towards the Axis of Evil, with Syria being the main link between Iran, Hamas and Hizbullah. Regarding Israel he stated “political trust is gone” lamenting the drop in relations to a point preceding the 1994 peace treaty.

The Jordanian leader is accusing Israel of ethnic cleansing, seeking to remove all non-Jews from the capital. He stressed that Jerusalem holds significant importance for “the Palestinians, Jordanians, and in essence, for all Arabs and the Muslim world,” adding the current policies of the Netanyahu government are indeed threatening future relations between the countries.

Abdullah stated that he has warned Israel repeatedly, stating “Israel is playing with fire” and threats to sites holy to Christianity and Islam cannot be tolerated.
