Long Island Rail Road workers walked off the job, shutting down train service in the system’s first strike in 30 years. The two sides had been negotiating for months over a new contract. The walkout follows months of negotiations that failed to produce an agreement, bringing rail service to a halt as the labor dispute escalates.

I so absolutely cannot think of a better way of commemorating the 1st [secular] anniversary of the New Jersey Transit strike, than by LIRR emulating them & also striking on quite literally the very same [secular] date exactly 1 year later.
