LIRR Workers Strike, Shutting Down Service for First Time in 30 Years

Long Island Rail Road workers walked off the job, shutting down train service in the system’s first strike in 30 years. The two sides had been negotiating for months over a new contract. The walkout follows months of negotiations that failed to produce an agreement, bringing rail service to a halt as the labor dispute escalates.

  1. I so absolutely cannot think of a better way of commemorating the 1st [secular] anniversary of the New Jersey Transit strike, than by LIRR emulating them & also striking on quite literally the very same [secular] date exactly 1 year later.
