Meah Shearim tactics

gayparadeflyer.jpgA leaflet distributed in several neighborhoods in Jerusalem offered NIS 20,000 to anyone who kills participants in the International Gay Pride Parade scheduled to take place in Jerusalem next month. The flier also suggested that fire bombs be used to kill the participants and gave instructions on how to construct them. [Click on the image to ENLARGE it.]

  1. The responsible leaders of Meah Shearim denounced these pamphlets and said that this is not the way they work. They have called for non-violence and said Members of the ‘Red Hand for Redemption’, who penned the letters, are unknown among the Haredim. Sources in the community told ynet that, to them, the letters seem like more a teenager’s “practical joke” and said that “this is not the way of a community in the midst of a struggle.”

While denying responsibility for the violent letters, the Haredi community has distributed formal flyers in protest of the parade. The flyers contain implicit criticism of Shas as “representatives of religious parties trying to appease the international storm regarding this issue by negotiating to change the location of this defilement to Tel Aviv.”
The flyers, hung all over the neighborhood, appeal to the Haredi community as well: “anyone with the ability to do so has the duty to do everything he can to smash the jaws of evil in any way that he can.” The document was signed by the leading rabbis of the Haredi community.

  2. One almost wonders if this story is Ziyuf. Was it a frummer yid who composed that leaflet or was it composed by a “pride” supporter seeking to slander the haredi community?

And, FWIW, my 7-year-old draws better than whoever penned that.

  3. Mistaber as CR says, probably the work of an agent provocateur. (i.e. Avishai Raviv of the Yigal Amir saga) This is their MO.
