Large police forces have been dispatched to the British embassy in Tel Aviv, where a man is threatening to commit suicide. At around 2:45 p.m. embassy employees reported that an Arab-speaking man jumped over the embassy�s fence and entered the building with a gun pointed to his own head. Apparently the man is requesting asylum.

Israel police are not able to enter the embassy compound at this stage, which is considered British territory.

The British Embassy said that a man armed with a gun is on the embassy’s premises, but not inside the building itself. Embassy officials added that the police were acting with their permission on the embassy’s grounds, despite the fact that the place is under British jurisdiction.
