  1. You obviously have no clue what you are talking about, or you are obviously not an EMT as you claim you are.

There IS such a thing as a traumatic arrest, and unfortunately this is exactly what the child was in.

  2. Hocker,
No need to be rude. But from Wikipedia-

    Traumatic arrest
Traumatic arrest is a condition in which the heart has ceased to beat due to trauma to the chest area that involves the heart.

It is a medical emergency which will always result in death without prompt advanced medical care.

  3. There is such a condition as traumatic arrest. However, it is not a familiar term in the EMS business. More common is cardiac arrest or trauma induced cardiac arrest. However, no matter what you call it, the treatment is almost
(unless you have obvious differences i.e. open chest wound). As a medic, you would intubate and start dropping epi (and/ or atropine) like there’s no tomorrow. As a basic, you would BVM / CPR / and AED your heart out and pray you get ALS fast.

    (googled traumatic arrest)

  4. “However, it is not a familiar term in the EMS business.” & “and AED your heart out”

Do yourself a favor and if you have no clue what your talking about then kindly don’t comment.

The FACT remains: Traumatic arrest IS a familiar term used practicly by EMT’s and Paramedics by the minute accross America.

Also AED is NOT an option by a traumatic arrest since the heart is WORKING. AED is used by a cradiac arrest when the heart is NOT working. By traumatic arrest the heart is working but the patient is “bleeding heavily” either internally and/or externally.

  5. BTW I hope that you gusy are ashamed of yourselves. It does not matter whether or not you think it exists what matters is praying for this young boy and his family an dnot your petty arguments… get over it!
