To describe the impact Dror has, can only be adequately portrayed by its grateful recipients’. As one inmate poignantly penned his appreciation: “I am writing to thank you and your donors for providing such wonderful kosher meals for us in the visiting room at Ft. Dix West. I had brisket and kasha and even a black and white cookie! I regret that I was unable to eat such food yesterday for Shabbos or on Tuesday for Rosh Chodesh, but it’s such a special treat for me and my visitors. As you know, the visiting room provides temporary Pidyon Shvuyim from the trials and tribulations and your efforts make the visits even nicer.”

Following a weekend retreat for families of inmates, a friend of the family sent this email t o Dror: “You should just know about the Shabbos… Mrs. F. and her family weren’t so happy about going, and Friday afternoon already on the bus she was all nervous… And later she called me almost in tears about how this is so not their thing and crowd, and she has no company etc…. And I did all I can to beg her to give it a chance – Friday afternoon is hardly a time to gather an impression! The next time I heard from her – Motzei Shabbos – it was a totally different person! She went on and on for days how amazing it was, and how everyone was taken care of, and everyone felt comfortable… It was really a life saver for everyone in the family – emotionally as well as physically….”

And from Mrs.Leah Rabushkin: “Words cannot really thank you for the amazing Shabbos that we just spent all together . You cannot imagine the impact that it makes on the families just to be with people that understand you, know where you’re coming from. Throughout the Shabbaton different people came over to me and we spoke, shared and just discussed different issues that go on in our lives . The kids felt so treated, the gashmios was unbelievable, the speakers were so inspiring and the atmosphere was incredible. Oh, and the entertainment was just so hysterical, my husband laughed so hard as I tried to give over the lines I remembered…”
