VIDEO & PHOTOS: Eli Beer Of United Hatzalah Receives Presidential Award For Volunteerism

In an elegant and moving ceremony Eli Beer, founder of United Hatzalah, received the Presidential Award for volunteerism from President Shimon Peres. The award honors the outstanding accomplishments of individuals and organizations for their contribution to the Israeli society.

Speakers noted that United Hatzalah’s contribution to Israeli society goes far beyond its critical lifesaving activities. The fact that it provides this service at no cost to the people in need and without regard to race, religion or national origin establishes United Hatzalah as an organization of national interest and benefit.

Volunteers of United Hatzalah from around the country and supporters from around the world were present to show their respect and appreciation for the organization.

  1. Just to set the record straight.
    In approximately 1985 prior to Hatzolahs existence in
    E Y, three chashuva bnei torah askonim founded hatzolah. Their first order of business was to travel to Boro Park to learn the insides of what hatzolah does and speak to its founders. They then traveled to Toronto and received app. $75,000.00 from the Reichmann family (in particular Reb Shmully,z”l Reb Isaac Reichmann’s son). He asked that this money be used to start the first hatzolah organization in Bnei Brak to be named Lev Nachum, in memory of his maternal Zeidy, Reb Nochum Halpern zt”l.
