Lion’s Gate Terrorist: Don’t Cry for Me – I Will Become a Shahid

2Suriq Dviat, an 18-year-old Arab student from the Tzur Bahar area of Yerushalayim was the terrorist who perpetrated a stabbing attack at the Lion’s Gate on Wednesday morning 24 Tishrei. Thirty-six-year-old Daniel was injured moderately in the attack. Suriq was seriously wounded when Daniel managed to draw his weapon and fire at her as she continued lunging at him with her knife.

A few hours prior to perpetrating the attack she uploaded a post to Facebook stating her dream is to become a shahid, a martyr.

“Where are you going?” she is asked.

“I am going to become a shahid” she responded.

“I want to ask you all not to cry for me when I become a shahid. My highest desire is to become a shahid in the way of Allah”.

Daniel spoke to reporters from his bed in Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem. He explained “In the morning I walked with a friend in the Old City and suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my head and then in my back. I turned my head and say the terrorist holding the knife in her hand as she tried to murder me while she shouted. My friend shoved her before she could stab me for a third time.

“I acted as I learned and practiced as an officer in the paratroopers. I drew my weapon and shot her to neutralize the attack. Police arrived immediately thereafter and assisted me by tending to my wounds”.
