“I’m Only 17, I Want to Live”

An Israeli family is essentially trapped inside of a Texas hospital this week, due to their son’s condition. 17-year-old Moishy is suffering from leukemia. Having just endured a bone marrow transplant, the boy must be hospitalized. The treatments that are now needed to keep him alive, however, are now out of his parents’ price range.

The Gotfam family is much like any other. gather Chaim Shalom Gotfam makes a living to support his children. The couple had savings, in hopes of providing for their childrens’ futures. These were all drained when Moishy was diagnosed. They recently went to meet with famous medical advisor Rabbi from jerusalem  , who advised strongly that they fly immediately to Texas for a bone marrow transplant.

Following their orders, they left the family behind, and took the entirety of their savings with them, in hopes of saving Moishy’s life. 17-year-old Moishy is now post-op. However now that the savings are gone, the family has no means with which to purchase the treatments to save his life.

It is unclear what will be. Either their fundraising campaign through organization Kupat Ha’Ir will be successful in helping them raise the money, or they could, chas v’shalom, be forced to watch their child fade from this world due to something as superficial as a lack of funds. For them, the campaign’s success is a matter of life and death.

17-year-old Moishy, undoubtedly, is overcome with fear during this dark time in his life.

The Gotfam family and those who love them dearly are watching the progress of their fundraising campaign closely. The world will have to see how the story unfolds: with a miracle, or with tragedy.
