HaGaon HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch conveyed a special message on Wednesday evening, hours before the mass tefillah rally in Jerusalem on Thursday afternoon against the arrests and imprisonment of bnei yeshivos.
In a video published on Chareidi media outlets, the Rosh Yeshivah is seen answering questions regarding the atzeres.
Interviewer: People want to understand—what is the goal of tomorrow’s large atzeres in Jerusalem?
Rosh Yeshiva: The goal is, first of all, to request from Hakadosh Baruch Hu. When all of Klal Yisrael together requests something from Hakadosh Baruch Hu, that surely has a great effect above—that’s the first thing.
Secondly, that the government should understand that we are united—and that under no circumstances can this continue as it is! We are now holding a tefillah, but they should understand that if tefillah doesn’t help, there are other ways. And they will understand that.
“L’Maasah, it’s absolutely necessary and very important that each person come—mamash with mesirus nefesh. If, chas v’shalom, if it’s not one hundred percent, something very, very special, it will be a terrible Chillul Hashem, rachmanah litzlan.
Interviewer: Even if it involves bittul Torah?
Rosh Yeshiva: It’s Kiyum HaTorah! It’s not Bittul HaTorah! Every avreich and bochur must come—from far far away, even with difficulty, davka with mesirus nefesh.
Interviewer: Even though there’s no organized public transportation?
Rosh Yeshiva: Yes! Even mamash with mesirus nefesh!
Dozens of vehicles equipped with loudspeakers have been circulating through Chareidi population centers on Wednesday afternoon and evening, announcing the historic atzeres on Thursday.

You should do hishtaelus, but only when the hishtaelus itself is not an aveirah.
This is why you should go to the protest, and should not go to the IDF.
Every word pure gold.
Sacrificing two years of your life/actually giving up your life whilst protecting am Yisrael = bittul Torah.
Putting down your Gemara for an afternoon to shout and hold a sign = mesiras nefesh.
Huh?!
IY’H this demonstration which is negatively impacting millions is the straw that will break the camel’s back. Hareidim have used their position in the government to extract subsidies and exemptions from service; every-day Israelis have had it. the next government will change things dramatically.
Questions:
1)”If we all gather to pray and ask from Hashem” What are we asking for? He didnt address what we are praying for.
2)so this “tefilah” is ~more~ to ~threatened~ show the government how many ppl make up this group?
What does a “tefilah” to hashem have to do with showing the government how many ppl there are?
3) “the government should understand that if this *tefilah doesn’t work*” wait tefilah of this caliber might not work????
So the regular tefilot till now have less of a chance of working (bc otherwise what’s the point of this gathering if it’s not a “greater” tefilah?
4)How come a tefilah this great wasn’t done for the hatzlacha of the soldiers or getting back the hostages, but only for yourselves?
Wc he didnt explain what they are “asking from Hashem” for themselves.
5)was Torah learning not good enough till now??? Does Torah learning also not work sometimes like this *more* ultra powerful tefilah??
6) why does “if the tefilah doesnt working” mean anything for the government?? Seems like he’s focusing on the government a lot more than a tefilah to Hashem?
7) why can’t the tefilah “not working” mean Hashem is telling you NO, And you should reconsider what your asking for?
Is that completely unfathomable?
8)so what is the reason why everyone should be Moser nefesh to come to this “tefilah”? He still didn’t tell us.
Even the irreligious hostages run over to thank him after being freed for their prayers and tears. And then you have the wicked people such as on this comments board who talk about this man like he’s below trash. Shame on most of you
all your questions are not nogeia and are botul mevutal from the onset
lets take a few
8) you should be moser nefesh because a very strong showing is necessary because a lack of it would be a chillul hashem and one must be moser nefesh not to cause a chillul hashem
7) they have consider and reconsidered what they are asking for- for generations. what they are asking for is the lifeblood of the nation according to all gedolei hador for generations.
you are small and they are not and because you are small you can not fathom the chashivus hatorah and its necessity for klal yisrael particularly in israel, and surrounded by animals on every side waiting to devour us.
just like we can not understand the ways of hashem you can not understand dass chachamim
1) he doesnt need to say what we are praying for becaus eits obvious to all bnei yeshiva what we are praying for
a yeshua from a gezeira hanging over their head asking young impressionable bochurim to join a spiritually depraved secular idf
4) the hostages was serious and affected 250 ppl and their families this effects hundreds of thousands of ppl and their families it effects you your entire yeshiva and youir entire family and community iy is closer to home and thats why this oputpuring
your questions come from someone far from any understanding of the olam hatorah
The first rashi of the Torah says the world was created because of the Torah that’s called Raishis. The chafetz chaim also comments on this that everything you see on the entire Earth and in the entire universe and Galaxy is just catalysts to enable the study and following of the Torah. We’re not just here to be cats and dogs that do exactly the same things as animals every Day for simple survival. There’s a higher purpose that so many stupid idiots can’t seem to understand and it’s probably because their parents sent them to public school or were just as corrupt as their current offspring. People who think rabbis have been doing nothing their whole life. Almost nobody here would survive kollel for even a half hour
Mesirus Nefesh took on a very real meaning nebach. Cheshbon hanefesh needed
When the Gedolim say something you listen, who is anyone to question anything they say! Shame on people who question and go against the Gedolim!
You do know that you (with your very own “dass Torah”) chose these Rabbis to be your gedolim, right?
How much Tanach, Gemara, geonim, rishonim etc did you learn BEFORE *You* deemed them to be gedolay tora?
Another way to ask it is how are YOU so sure and on what legitimate educational basis do you know that other rabbanim (who don’t agree with your gedolim) aren’t real Torah gedolim?
You have to know tora to give these gedolim your haskama that they actually are gedolim.
It can’t be just bc they said.
We have had too many Rabbis in the history of the Jewish ppl to claim to be Rabbis when in fact they are the furtherst thing.
And that judgment of who is and who isn’t is based on how educated you are. Its you at the end of the day that decided that they are gedolim. So I ask, BEFORE you deemed them gedolim did you go through tanach with mefarshim, Gemara, geonim, rishonim etc?
Or even not before did you ever take what they say and see if it matches up with Torah….. etc.
You have a chiyuv to put what they say under examination and if you learn and see that it does match up with tora and chazal then great. But to just say “you can’t question them” or “you can’t understand them” that’s not how it works.
If example I tell you well I know a Rabbi that said you should join the army, and bc he’s a rabbi I can’t question him. You understand the idea that it’s bc based on my education *I* deem him a rabbi and not questionting him will never give me the opportunity to see if there is another side (or if what I’m doing is correct or not). You will encourage me to ask questions on this Rabbi and if I choose not to, would you not say that I’m being closed minded?
Not everything the Gedolim say is wrong. There is no one (I’m talking about all benai Adam, there might be some ppl who would love to say I’m including Hashem just to invalidate what I’m saying) that is 100% wrong. But there is no one that is 100% right either and that’s the reality. Torah shows us this with examples in tanach all the way to sanhedrin themselves.
Some will get it more wrong than others but every one gets something wrong or else there is no existence for bechira, for growth, for teshuva, for kirvas elokim.
I know I will get negative feed back.
And I still Wana say I love each and everyone of you. We were a family before we became a religion and we are still a family after.
To clarify, the focus is the mentality of not questioning/not being able to examine what your being taught and come up with challenges to sharpen what your being taught. That’s part of what a chidush is. How many of our gedolim ask/examine the rishonim and have a differing opinion. We don’t say who does this gadol think he is arguing with a rishon right? You might say we aren’t qualified, but then I ask you when will you be of you don’t ask questions. Questions open up spaces that even the wisest didn’t think of. And those questions can come from anyone. Granted just like some people will be *more* wrong than others, some people’s questions will be more off point/with out much intellectual background. But that in no way means you shouldn’t ask, bc you never know who will ask a good question that can open up the topic more. We see this countless times in Shas. Someone (even of higher status) says something then someone ( even of lower status) asks on it and from there we now gain a clearer/newer understanding of what the statement means.
