According to authorities, an Israeli registered Zim ship traveling about 700 kilometers (420 miles) off the coast of Somalia was attacked by gunmen on Shabbos morning.

Foreign Ministry officials in Yerushalayim stated the ministry will not become involved in the attack, stating there were no Israelis on board the Africa Star when the attack took place.

Zim however did contact NATO forces as well as the Israel Navy for assistance, resulting in the vessel changing course to a less threatening route. There were no injuries reported in the attempted attack.
