Improvement Reported in Menashe Kalifa’s Condition

mda3.jpgMenashe Kalifa did not hesitate, jumping into a toxic sewer in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of Jerusalem this summer in the hope of saving the little girl who fell in, Rachaeli Sofer z”l. Sofer did not survive, and Kalifa was critically injured as a result of the toxic fumes.

His wife Efrat reports a “slight improvement” in his condition, but he remains comatose and attached to a mechanical respirator in Jerusalem’s Herzog Hospital.

Efrat and other family members continue to seek assistance, decrying the lack aid from Jerusalem City Hall despite promises to assist shortly after the tragic event occurred. She explains that to date, since July, she received a total of NIS 2,800 from City Hall.

In response to the report, a spokesman released a statement “The mayor has instructed the municipality to assist the family in any and all ways possible”.
