I have, for a long time, protested when someone called me “Rabbi” or any other variation of the word.

I’d think that a Shliach Tzibur (including a Baal Koreh) is deserving of an honorific.

The only undisputed fact I was able to find is that he wanted to establish what the natural landmarks for Lakewood are. I found no hard evidence that he intended to invalidate previous gitten written in Lakewood. Everything else I found is from those that attempted to discredit him.

The “no purchase necessary” option is needed in order to be legally considured a sweepstakes and not a lottery. It has nothing to do with being tax deductible.

Dash, that is not what I said. I said if the kallah’s father is a talmid chacham then you should stand for him when he enters the room with hiss daughter.

I wasn’t questioning your post, that’s why I quoted gavra_at_work (although even it had been written as father it still wouldn’t make sence).

I just read the fine print in my book. First of all, it does mention “no purchase necessary” so it is a legal sweepstakes and is therefore tax deductible.

The million dollar prize requires a donation, the other prizes are no purchase necessary.

We can only hope the Chassan is a Talmid Chacham.

    How is this relevant?

So if I find a CD in a situation which I can halachicly keep it does that mean that I don’t have whatever rights the original owner had because the original owner still retains some rights?

Amazing how the posts here run the gamut from the illiterate to the incomprehensible.

Apparently you aren’t using the same definition that Reb is using.

    a. the intervention of a divine or supernatural agency in the affairs of man

    b. the working of miracles by such intervention

Here’s what Wikipedia has on the subject:

The plants are normally tall and fairly sturdy and are often mistaken for trees, but their main or upright stem is actually a pseudostem that grows 6 to 7.6 metres (20 to 24.9 ft) tall, growing from a corm. Each pseudostem can produce a single bunch of bananas. After fruiting, the pseudostem dies, but offshoots may develop from the base of the plant. Many varieties of bananas are perennial.

I guess we should determine which varieties of banana are perennial and which aren’t.

I’ve been trying to figure that out for a while. I’m surprised that the mods let that link through. I wonder how long it will take for you to be accused of being Joseph.

    First thread.

See, even from the start it was always about tznius.

Are you sure that’s the first thread? The OP in that thread was post #30.

The earliest post from a current poster I found is from charliehall and it is the 47th post on the CR.

Finding the earliest post isn’t as simple as iBump 2.0 claims it is as they didn’t actually succeed in finding the earliest post.

Everyone lines up by color/team and the ball, I imagine, is in the middle.

It starts in the middle but subsequent plays start where the previous one ended.

Then everyone starts fighting. Where does the ball go?

That’s not how it works in Football. One team has possesion of the ball and their aim is to get it to the goal. The other team’s aim is to take possesion of the ball for the next play.

Shouldn’t they all be fighting in one pack, with the person who actually has the one ball?

No, an all-out attack on whoever has the ball would leave other players open and whoever had the ball would just pass it to an open player.

Looking through the booklet raises a few questions.

How do they handle the Ribus issue of having different payouts for lump sum vs. the ten year option?

There doesn’t seem to be a “No Donation” alternative method for entering which would make it an illegal lottery rather than a legal sweepstake.

On a lighter note what happens when the winner of the Feivishmobile decides to sell it? Does the no modification limitation transfer to the new owner?

The learning in the bais hamedresh should be in a way that if the Vilna Goan walked in, he would know he is in a mokom Torah. He should see chavrusas leaning over a Vilna Shas, not a Kindle or Ipad!

Although I don’t know what edition of Shas the Vilna Gaon used, it certainly wasn’t the Vilna Shas.

The layout of continental is different than ElAl.

Their galleys face each other in the back creating a small room that doesn’t interfere with passengers going to the bathroom and the sounds of our davening don’t disturb others.

In economy class cabins the greatest difference between cabin layouts (in the same model) is usually in the seat pitch. The twin galleys in the rear is an Airbus design while ElAl’s fleet is Boeing

yenta, true, but what is wrong with a husband and wife having some time together if their places of employment are closed. some people might even think it is a healthy thing.

I guess you’re too assimilated to understand that anything healty is wrong. The exceptions are those things that the Gemorah or Rambam state are healty.

I have no problem with Firefox on any IP/VPN combo. This keeps happening with Chrome.

You need to delete the YWN cookie from Chrome. If you log on with a blocked account you get to a block page and when you’re blocked you can’t access the logoff script that cleans out the cookie.

I don’t think YWN does any IP filtering.

But much of the Oilem liked him just the way he was, so why did he have to move to the left? Id love to know. Do he and his advisors think he’ll attract more customers this way? I think not, so why did he need this change?

But a good portion of his original fan base are following Rabbis who are boycotting him so he needs to find new fans. I usually don’t follow him simply because I don’t like his music but other than replacing Yiddish with English, I don’t see much of a differance between this video and his earlier releases.

Was there something objectional with my previous post on this thread or did I just forget to press “Send”?

Don’t ask for new features, every time they try implementing something they break something else.

Some people may leave their ties knotted even when they take them off for the night and then just slip them on in the morning. One would have to make sure not to do this on Motzei SHabbos if it was tied on Shabbat.

Perhaps this is the reason why some don’t wear a tie for Mincha.

    There is no kosher ibuprofen,

The Star-K lists regular Motrin on their approved list and also lists Walgreens Infants’ Ibuprofen 0.5oz with NDC#0363-1252-24. Walgreens website indicates that NDC#0363-1252-24 is in fact a 1oz bottle and the half ounce bottle is actually NDC#0363-1252-23. The package you want says “Dye Free” they also have with dyes but it is a different NDC#.

We know the Rashi that Eliezer the servant of Avrohom had a daughter and he wished to wed his daughter to Yitzchok.

But to be consistant with Rashi, Eliezer had to be from a cursed lineage (Canaan).
