ZEESKITE- You’re right that everyone in the coffee room is great, but no matter how great ppl are, no one is perfect. Of course ty’s post wasn’t aimed at anyone, just a nice little post that was written. I think that the people who needed to hear it appreciated it (even if they won’t admit it). Maybe instead of writing negative comments to this we can see the good in it.

I am 20 and have a sister who is 22. My sister was able to date right when she felt she was ready to start dating, because the one above her was married. It is not a rule in my house that I have to wait BUT when I got home from seminary I waited. All of my friends are dating, and many of my friends are even married… but I haven’t even started dating. It’s been more than a year since I’ve been home from seminary and from an outsider’s point of view I should start dating. I mean yes 20 sounds young but let’s get real here, in the circles I’m in girls start dating at 19, sometimes 18. People think “oh you’re sister is only 22, you should go out” but, they don’t realize she’s been dating for four very long years. Her good friends are married and many have kids. It’s torture. My sister told me to start dating but I am conflicted. I want to start but when I think about it, would I really feel happy if I got engaged before she did? Even if she seemed happy for me, inside the pain would be unbareable. On the other side though, if she knew I was waiting for her,she’d feel even more pressure so, I just keep telling her I’m not ready. But I’m not a niviyah and so I don’t know when my sister will get married (it should be soon iyH) and so realistically how long should I allow myself to wait for her??? but then the same thought comes to mind that even if she chas veshalom was single when she was 27 and i was 25, would I really be happy if i got engaged before her? no. my simcha wouldnt be the same because I would feel the pain for her. So yes YOYA it’s easy to jump and say that (and it could very possibly be your in the same situation as me or you’re the older sibling in this situation), but there’s also the other side. I’ve learnt not to talk about families who have girls of shidduchim age because I realized that girls can either feel my way, or your way “yoya”. All I can say is that iyH this year should be a year that everyone who is in the parsha-no matter how old, should find their besert. May we all only have simchos.

I am the youngest and have a sister above me who is single. In my case, she WANTS me to start dating. She doesn’t want me to wait for her to find the one just because she hasn’t found hers yet. I didn’t tell her this but, I’m not starting to date because I can’t possibly imagine me getting engaged before her. I couldn’t be happy if I was engaged and she wasn’t. Of course she would be happy for me if I were to get engaged before her, but she would deep down be hurt. It’s hard enough when all the girls your age are married, she doesn’t need a younger sister married first. I told her I wasn’t ready to start dating, really it’s just because I want her to go first. Obviously at a certain point I’m going to have to go out even if chas ve’shalom she’s not married…that’s why I’m praying hard that she gets engaged before it gets to that point.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I was looking for a job for months and months and was going out of my mind and it can really be upsetting… now thank G-d I have three jobs! G-d willing u will get one really soon. Take this chance to get closer to G-d instead of getting upset at him. Maybe pray for someone else you know who needs a job, swap names and pray for each other! (I did that and we all found jobs!!). ALSO, WHERE DO YOU LIVE? I HEARD OF AN OFFICE JOB IN JERSEY CITY. If you live in California I don’t think u’d want to commute that far;) so… if possible please post a little more information that can help us help you! Thank you! Good luck!
I didn’t read all the comments on this thread.. I skimmed the first one though… The title of the thread caught my eye and I thought maybe it would be about the “Jewish Advertising” that I see a lot that causes my stomach to turn. The sheital ads. Some of them are so un-tzniusdik. How the models are posed really makes me sick. I’m not talking about all the shietal ads, but I’m just saying that if you know someone who makes ads for sheitals, please ask them to make it tzniusdik.
