HealthParticipantbpt -“But very little is said in criticism about his personal antics. And THAT needs to be condemned.”
You must live in France because here in the US the media did nothing but condemn him. As soon as he was arrested he was found guilty in the media. But you seem obsessed with your conspiracy theories that the world is condoning his behavior.
If you would have gotten up on your soap box and discussed the recent legalization of same gender marriage in NY, this I can understand. But what does these two cases, were they found these two people not guilty, have to do with morality? You keep screaming that they were only found innocent because society is morally corrupt. Until you bring some factual proof – your theories will remain conspiracy theories!
HealthParticipantQueen bees are even lazier than drones -they never leave the nest until the whole colony is dead. Then they either die or hibernate till next spring. The woman always has to beat the guys. If the guys are lazy, then there is a woman (queen bee) who is lazier and fatter than them.
HealthParticipantbpt -“Since you are missing the point I am trying to make, I’ll just leave it this, and move on to the next topic:”
And I thought you were moving on, but you keep posting.
“Strauss Khan is a great guy? Yah, Ok, its your call”
Maybe you should invest in a pair of reading glasses?
How in the world did he become a great guy because I wrote -he is famous?
HealthParticipantChacham -Your Chochmos were already posted by Twisted on the page before. E/o would agree that you can’t be Yotze sleeping in such a Succah, but in my post above, not e/o agrees with him about eating in such a Succah!
HealthParticipantUse a bee trap. Either you can buy one or make your own. That’s one of my favorite parts of Sukkos -watching all the bees in the trap. Try to have a few outside and one inside, just in case the lady misses the outside ones. Ah- the drones (male bees) all they do is lay around all day. I guess I do that too sometimes, but I would get to do it all the time if Odom wouldn’t have gotten cursed!
HealthParticipantwhatelseisleft -Basically the’re two orgs. doing the same thing.
The more the merrier. I’ve posted many times -I wish s/o makes a similar org. for Shidduchim.
HealthParticipanttahini -“under an israeli style scarf”
Does any hair stick out from these scarfs?
HealthParticipantbpt -“Oh, yeah. Mr. Khan sure is famous. But not for the kind of behavior that I’d want made public!”
I realize your comment is a snide remark, but Mr. Khan was a world famous person before any of these allegations came about. And if you don’t know why -you can just Google IMF!
HealthParticipantbpt -“Society “wanted” to find these 2 innocent, so they found the facts to support a way off the hook.”
Here (above) is were we fundamentally disagree!
“Where I think we disagree is, you believe that a person’s motive will not taint the truth.
I believe that a motive (or a bias) will allow you too see the facts the way you want to see them.”
This I agree with. This is exactly what happenned -because of her “outstanding” behavior, the prosecutor and e/o involved in the first trial convicted her, not on any evidence, but on her behavior. They had a bias similiar to yours’. In the second trial, they were able to separate her personal behavior from the act of murder. By just looking at the evidence with regards to the murder, they found her and her boyfriend innocent.
HealthParticipantAnd I’m thinking of practicing in the allergy field -it will be a
cinch because it seems like e/o is a Maven. I’ll just read, learn Torah, watch TV and the patients can treat themselves. I won’t have to do anything -it will be great.
HealthParticipantmw13 -“As great as it is to have these halachic discussions, I’d just like to remind everyone to ask their Rov what to do Halacha li’maaseh, not rely on an anonymous chat room.”
Why does these reminder posts pop up every once in awhile? Is it because these posters think that e/o forgets it’s a coffee room?
HealthParticipantmsseeker -“Because I don’t have a shaila. If I wanted to wear a long shaitel I’d definitely ask.”
First of all, why would a man want to wear a Shaitel? I know I don’t want to wear one.
And the reason you don’t have a Shaila is because you Paskened for e/o on the page previously that it’s Ossur Gamor!
HealthParticipantshlishi & msseeker-
Look why don’t You call the Poskim and ask them? If you know of any Litvish Poisek here in the US that holds they’re Ossur, post their name. And don’t tell me you have the right to be Machmir even if it’s Mutter because you came on a public forum and you Passeled many people. I personally don’t like the long Shaitels but my preference doesn’t make it Ossur. You claim it is, so now prove it!
HealthParticipantshlishi & mdd -If the Litvish/yeshivish Poskim held the long Shaitels are Ossur, I would have heard about it. I live in Lakewood. Most don’t. Go ask them why they don’t.
HealthParticipantworkaholic -“after marriage when it’s suddenly ok to wear long (and I mean LONG) sheitals. Just wondering…What’s the hetter (I thought it’s worse for a married woman to wear her hair in an attractive way)?”
It’s not necessarily based on attractiveness.
There are definitely Poskim who say you can’t wear long Shaitels and some say you can’t wear any Shaitel at all (Tichel or similar only). Usually these Poskim come from the Chassidish or Yerushalmi type neighborhoods.
Most Poskim in the Litvitshe or modern communities don’t hold these are Ossur!
HealthParticipantSam2 -“Health: And what’s the Heter in places where it’s not cold?”
I never slept in the Sukkah until recently. (I did when I was in EY.) I was Soimeach on Metztayer either because of cold and/or danger. (And when I was married I had a third Heter.)
The MB says (above post) cold isn’t a Chesoron of Kein Todoroo until the last line which I try to do now (sleeping bag). Seems to be a Machlokes.
As far as danger -Sharrei Teshuva there -SK Heh -that brings an Achron who argues on this Rema. Also MB #20 brings Achronim whom say B’deieved you are Yotze eating in such a Sukkah!
HealthParticipant“Sorry to disagree with you Rabbi, but there is a Chiyuv of Kein Todoroo. So 40 degrees can be changed with a heater or using a sleeping bag.”
This I posted based on the MB -Taf Resh Mem #18 -the last line.
HealthParticipantSam2 -“What’s the Heter for Bochurim?”
The same Rema that you used for married people -the line before that says – we are Meikel not to sleep in the Sukkah because of the cold.
HealthParticipantFeif Un & Imaofthree – “Mine was fine, but my wife had a very rough one. She wasn’t feeling well, and asked our Rav what to do. He told her to go home and sleep.”
Check out the CR topic called “Fasting Tablets”, where you will find different solutions to help you fast w/o actually breaking it.
HealthParticipantshlishi -He isn’t Mekayem Vchai Bohem because then he would be able to eat regularly. But he is Mekayem V’nsheshmartem Moed Es Nafshosaichem. And eating less than the Shiur is also Ossur because of Chatzi Shiur Ossur Min Hatorah!
HealthParticipantmoi aussi -I heard these shouldn’t be taken on YK unless you have to. Ask your LOR!
HealthParticipantI used Celebrex, a painkiller that is a NSAID. It works. You can get it in the US with a prescription.
HealthParticipantSam2 -Two reasons: (Maybe only one.)
From Halachafortoday:
“1) There are a few conditions that must be met before a scent will require a Bracha before smelling it, details of which we will now begin discussing.
A Bracha is only recited over a scent that has a tangible source (referred to in halacha as Yesh Bo Ikar). In other words, the item that is being smelled must be the item that is emitting the scent. (Shulchan Aruch Siman 217:3)
Therefore, an article of clothing, a food, or a utensil that was near something that has a scent and absorbed the scent does not require a Bracha when one smells the scent on the clothing, food or utensil. If one recites a Bracha on such an item it is a Bracha L’Vatala (See Mishna Berura 217:15)
2) Man-made scents that are not natural, and are manufactured synthetically, is a subject of debate amongst the Poskim if a Bracha is required, thus, due to the rule of Safek Brachos L’Hakel (whenever it is a question if a Bracha is required, we rule to not say a Bracha, in order not to say Hashem’s name in vain Chas V’Shalom) no Bracha would be recited on such a scent.
Thus, most of the perfumes, colognes, body sprays etc. that are on the market today would not require a Bracha as they are produced synthetically to acquire a certain smell, and aren’t naturally fragrant. (See Shmiras Shabbos K’Hilchasa Perek 61:12 and footnote 232 quoting Rav Shlomo Zalmen Auerbach Zatzal. It is important to note that even natural perfumes that would require a Bracha would only require it when smelling it in the bottle, and not when smelling it after it is already applied to a person[on whom it is permissible to smell], as it would then be considered “Rayach Sh’Ain Bo Ikar”. See also Shu”t Ohr L’Tzion Perek 46:54 and Shu”t Avnei Yashfeh Vol. 2 Siman 16)
Potpourri (which is basically flower petals, bark and other materials which have no intrinsic smells, and are sprayed with perfumes and other synthetic smells) does not require a Bracha when being smelled as it isn’t naturally fragrant.”
HealthParticipantam yisrael chai – They usually put it in a Esthrog and people make a Bracha on it.
HealthParticipantI saw that if you can’t (Or won’t -my addition) build the Sukkah tonite you should learn Hilchos Sukkah. So if anybody read or posted on the Sukkah topics here in the CR you are Yotze!

What argument is that? And I do both.
HealthParticipantDr. Seuss – It’s probably both, but if you just smell it on YK it shouldn’t be a problem.
October 9, 2011 4:59 am at 4:59 am in reply to: Rebbetzin Esther Baila Schwartz says bad news can be harmful to your health #815621HealthParticipantam yisrael chai -“BTW, consistent bad news, if nothing else, usually desensitizes one to some extent…and/or can put one in a more negative frame of mind”
Perhaps, but that should be up to the individual how much they can handle. Noone should get up publicly and say no to reading or listening to any bad news.
HealthParticipantDr. Seuss – I hope your not asking me because that was an invention way after my time.
HealthParticipantyehudayona -You don’t even have to ask because almost nothing in BMG is enforceable, anyways.
HealthParticipantSam2 -“Health: If it’s obvious you don’t have to try. Just like I wouldn’t go into my room if it was 40 degrees (F), I don’t even have to go into the Sukkah.”
Sorry to disagree with you Rabbi, but there is a Chiyuv of Kein Todoroo. So 40 degrees can be changed with a heater or using a sleeping bag. (Sleeping bags -Some actually go to 20 degrees.)
Cold isn’t a P’tur, unless you are a Mefunak!
HealthParticipantHaLeiVi – Yep, that’s why I wear a coat in the winter, something I don’t see a lot of kids doing nowadays, esp. during recess.
October 9, 2011 4:22 am at 4:22 am in reply to: Rebbetzin Esther Baila Schwartz says bad news can be harmful to your health #815616HealthParticipantsmartcookie -“Health, I agree that your post is wrong.
I’ve been doing Kapporos for years and NEVER did I touch it myself. My husband turns it over my head for me while I say “Zeh Chalifasi”.”
To remain a smart cookie you have to read the posts. She didn’t even let the chicken over her head. This isn’t the Minhag -so she should have used money instead of making a scene!
HealthParticipantDr. Seuss -“And what does it accomplish by smelling them on Yom Kippur?”
It keeps you or wakes you up! Same with the ammonia smelling salts.
HealthParticipantGrowing -“most people say you must make borei minei bisumim.”
Name one Poisek who says to make a Bracha. Naarish. You would make an Isvei Besomin on tobacco, but tobacco doesn’t smell. So no Bracha, unless You make a Bracha on perfume!
HealthParticipantBecause it’s an addiction amongst using texting for other bad things. The Goyim have a word for it -you replace the “t” with the letter before it.
HealthParticipantSam2 -“Sam4: If it’s obviously way too cold you don’t even have to try, especially if there is concern you might get sick.”
Read my post above -Yes you have to try.
Also, you can’t catch a cold (virus) from cold weather!
HealthParticipantSam2 -M80: I quoted that there is a very good Heter for married people”
I used to think like you, but a lot of Poskim don’t like this Heter. As a matter of fact I just saw a Poisek saying even if your wife won’t have a good nite’s sleep because she will toss and turn because she is alone, it’s not enough to Patter the husband.
Cold is also not so Poshut because you can sleep with a heater or a sleeping bag. If you still are uncomfortable, then you can go into the house to sleep.
HealthParticipantSam2 – “I don’t know what to say to those who don’t. It’s against a black and white Din in the Gemara.”
In other posts you wrote Minhag Oiker Din, so why can’t there be a Minhag not to?
HealthParticipantIt’s snuff or smelling tobacco. No Bracha. (Shmeck Taback)
Either they buy smelling tobacco here in the US or they get it from EY (Some Seforim stores import it) where it’s quite common.

From Balto.? What number down is she? I know the two oldest and she isn’t one of them.

October 7, 2011 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm in reply to: Rebbetzin Esther Baila Schwartz says bad news can be harmful to your health #815609HealthParticipanthappiest -It’s also part of the minhag to have the chicken over your head. If you don’t want to keep the Minhag the way it’s supposed to be, because you’re scared or whatever, then use money. I don’t think she would be scared to hold money over her head, do you?
HealthParticipantHermione -Right now (the whole day) you should drink a few bottles of Pedialyte. If you’re feeling better by tonite you can fast. If not continue with the small amounts of Pedialyte. If you vomit up the liquid Pedialyte start with the frozen Pedialyte. Don’t eat solids until your stomach is settled usually after it stops (N/V/D) about 24 hours.
PS. – My free medical Chessed for Erev Yom Kippur.
October 7, 2011 2:44 pm at 2:44 pm in reply to: Rebbetzin Esther Baila Schwartz says bad news can be harmful to your health #815607HealthParticipantminyan gal – Bad news can cause stress, but it’s up to the individual to determine how much they can handle. To say noone should ever read news is very wrong. A person’s life is not meant to be stress free. We have spoiled ourselves and our kids beyond any generation before us. It has come to the point we can’t handle if our husband bought the wrong thing in the grocery store. I saw a woman yesterday scream “No”, when her husband asked her to hold the chicken or to put the chicken over her head. If she didn’t want to have anything to do with chickens, why come? You can use money for Kapporos. This post isn’t just about women, in our generation e/o is spoiled. When they get married and want to learn in Kollel they expect s/o to give them a car, a house, etc. Kollel even 20 -25 years ago – people who went to Kollel expected to live in poverty. Publicly saying we shouldn’t be exposed to any bad news helps feed the spoiling of our generation!
HealthParticipantbpt -“Since you are missing the point I am trying to make, I’ll just leave it this, and move on to the next topic:”
Actually you are missing my point. But when you move on -do so without trying to get in the last word!
“What’s at stake here (both the Khan and Knox cases) is the permissivness (spell check?) the West has for crimes of this nature.”
What you consider a crime, might not be even Ossur for a Goy.
And as far as I know the West has No permissiveness for murder or crimes against women. You keep repeating the same conspiracy theories – that crime is tolerated because they live in the low-life. One thing has nothing to do with the other. The two were acquited because there wasn’t enough evidence to find either one of them guilty on the crimes that they were accused!
HealthParticipantbpt -“#1 – The truth is consitant. Lies and coverups leave room for error.”
Spelled ConsiSTEnt. So it’s possible she’s a murderer, but you have no proof she is!
“#2 – You are right, there are not a million murders a year. But there are abuses (of the sort I cannot specify here) that are a product of this sort of “who cares” attitude.
And for this, the Strauss Khans and A. Knoxs of the world walk free”
If you don’t know – Strauss-Khan and A. Knox were not arrested on the same type of crime.
A. Knox was suspected of murder or conspiracy to commit murder. And the reason she went free was because they had no proof of her guilt!
Strauss-Kahn did not end up in court, not because they decided he was innocent. This case was going to be based on – he says/she says. Once it’s known that the woman is a known liar, she wouldn’t be believed over him. No prosecutor is going to prosecute s/o on the basis of an uncredible witness, esp. when the other guy is famous and credible, unless there is other proof.
Stop with your conspiracy theories just because there are lots of people whom have low-life behavior!
HealthParticipantshmoel -“becomes inapplicable if she otherwise will accept tzedaka.”
“It’s obvious from SA to rather take tzedaka than go out.”
Stop with the mind playing. There is a big difference between willing to take Tzedaka and having to take Tzedaka in order not to go out. Why can’t you just admit your first statement is wrong?
HealthParticipantbpt – “Was the DNA non-conclusive? Yes
Are there inconsistancies with the alibis of the accused? Yes”
So if DNA is inconclusive, how does this point to her guilt?!?
So if there are inconsistencies, that makes her guilty of murder?
Let’s see if they interrogate (torture) you for 14 hours, if everything you say will be perfectly consistent? She was/is young & afraid. This doesn’t mean that she shouldn’t be held accountable for accusing her boss.
“The sad truth is, the West “wants” to find Amanda and co innocent, so they did.
Because to find them guilty is to indict them of behavior that the West thrives on.”
This is what I mean by “your conspiracy theories”.
What does her behavior have to do with murder? Like you said, this behavior is commonplace, but is murder just as commonplace as this type of behavior? I think not or we would have millions of murders a year.
