mdd -“On the other hand, if someone became a BT because he/she thought it is a lot of fun to be frum etc., then — it might be a concern.”

Your post is astounding -who becomes Frum because they think it’s fun???

They all say they are doing it L’shem Shomayim, but some have alterior motives!

Unfortunately, this is true. It happens more than you would think. And it sometimes happens to their kids also.

No, I wrote clearly what I think you have in your writings – Not clean material -Prustkeit.

Now why wouldn’t I agree with it? Because you use Harry and Sally, instead of Yankel and Sora or because it’s full of Pritzus?

If you were actually one of the exceptions -you would have just explained that. Actually your screaming proves my point -“Thou protests too loudly”!

shein – Stop with your Narishkeit that you can curse out any Frei person just because you feel like it. If you read Arie’s post – “He happens to respect frum yidden. I have met him many times in Miami and he has tremendous pride in the Frum olam especially young people.”, you see clearly he isn’t trying to influence people to go off.

You’re just looking for excuses for your behavior. Futhermore, if by ranking him out -you are causing embarassment to his Frum family -you definitely don’t have any Heter to do so!

a mamin -“I also feel I have supported them plenty! That being said, I do feel there is a need for this bus, but it’s your choice to take it or not.”

You’ve seem to have missed the point. The issue isn’t money, nor the need of a bus between Willy & BP. This bus line is operating under a Gov. franchise. This means they get to write the rules, not you. You can’t just tell any Goyta if they don’t like being in the back of the bus -take another line or subway or taxi.

If the Harri Krishnas operated a bus line in Manhattan & required e/o to put on their silly robes (I’m not going to even say make e/o get a mohawk), acc. to you they would be able to claim religious exemption?!? If you found that your trip to where ever was easier by using this bus line – you would be happy if the Gov. said you can’t do that. You definitely wouldn’t be screaming religious exemption. You definitely wouldn’t like to be told -get there by some other way if you don’t like these conditions.

Everytime the Gov. does something e/o screams antisemitism, once in awhile it is, most of the time it’s not. Stop with the crying wolf. Don’t make a Chillul Hashem by dragging this into Court – where you will lose anyway and you’ll make it open hunting season on Frum Jews. This is a problem living amongst so many Frum Jews -you forget that we are in Golus and there is a way to behave in Golus. So I’ll repeat -the only choices you have is to either sit non-segregated or open a totally private bus service between Willy & BP!

MP – In my opinion when a writer admits their writing isn’t Kosher -they usually mean it’s not clean. If they just thought that it’s just not appropriate for the ultra -Frum community, I think she would have just said that! You can usually tell by the way a person speaks/writes what they mean. I could be wrong, but that would be the exception, not the rule.

You personally don’t sound MO to me, maybe just more modern, not so Yeshivish.

The girl sounds very much from the MO crowd, which really most of them aren’t really Frum.

bpt – I base my opinions on Halacha, not on where I learnt or how much. The Halacha is quite clear on morality. Toieva lifestyle is a No- No. Other things – it depends what. “Meaness” is only a “Hezek”. The Torah doesn’t just lump everything into one category like which appears that you want to do!

mosheemes2 -Doesn’t matter, it’s still a franchise. If they were doing it to a totally private company, I’d agree. Why must you and the others like you always be right?

If you and the other Kanoyim keep fighting this, you will lose and it will be bad for the Yidden whom ride this line.

You have two choices either sit non-segregated or the company becomes totally private. If you fight it, you will lose anyway in Court and you will still end up with the same choices.

So you’ll ask -“So what do you have to lose?”

Simple, the company is going to pass on their court costs to their ridership. These costs aren’t peanuts!

Shticky Guy -“Health We cannot daven for rain while having a chiyuv to eat in the sukka. So we wait until AFTER we are no longer mechuyav to eat in the sukka before davening for rain. This is why we do not say Geshem on Sukkos. And that was my exact question. If we are mechuyav to eat in the sukka on shemini atzeres then surely we should wait until simchas torah before davening Geshem. But davening on SA seems to support the minhag of NOT eating in the sukka on SA. Please answer that.”

Yes, this was the answer I was thinking of. But you took it too far. We really should Daven for Geshem on Sukkos, but we don’t want it to rain. But on SA there is No D’oraysa to sit in the Sukkah, at the most a D’rabbonon, so we won’t delay Davening for Geshem any longer.

old man -Couldn’t agree more. Until you have the capability like Bais Din Shel Maaloh, you don’t know e/o situation, so if he isn’t bothering you, why bother him? There are so many problems in the Frum community and e/o is busy sweeping it under the rug. If you want to busy with something, be busy with that. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read some Goyishe newspapers.

HaLeiVi -“Perhaps, if more people would drink, the Bochurim wouldn’t have to figure this out on their own. Instead of yelling at them, they should be shown, or told, what to do.”

You are in a dream world. You don’t think their parents or others haven’t told them how much to drink? They don’t listen. They want to get stoned. Some parents have no control of their kids. If the powers that be would put their foot down, the drunkeness wouldn’t occur. Some Rabbonim and/or Rosh Hayeshivos don’t care. So if the parents can’t control these kids and if the leaders don’t care – this is why this situation occurs in many places.

It’s funny but people like you will make excuses for everything. The same thing happens with smoking. The few Rosh Hayeshivos that care you won’t find any smoking in their Yeshiva. And there are always ones who try to challenge the rule in these Yeshivos. And you know what happens in these Yeshivos to these guys? Well they get chucked because the Hanhala takes this seriously. In a lot of Yeshivos, the Hanhala doesn’t take this seriously.

The fact is – the Gov. is right, but the fact that they never know what’s flying created the situation the way it is now. Keven Sheovar V’shona Nassis Lo K’heter. So people like Dr. Seuss are convinced that this can only be discrimination and antisemitisim. And the biggest Chutzpa is that they will fight their Chumra like it’s one of the Aseres Hadibros. This puts out a bad impression of Yiddiskeit because now the world thinks these Chumras are just as important as the Mitzvos themselves. To quote the Mayor -“If you want separate seating -start a totally private route”. I couldn’t agree more. The Courts nowadays won’t even uphold legitimate complaints of discrimination like Shabbos observance for employees, (I know from personal experience), because they become disgusted with Judaism when stories like these hit the news.

Yenta – You gotta be mature if you’re going to have a career in the medical field. Asking all sort of questions to all types of people is something you have to do. My Chaddishe friend at first had a hard time, but he learned how to do it anyway.

Things Goyim will say about Frum Jews are two-fold. Some are based on reality and some are based on ignorance or antisemitism. Mature people first listen and then come to conclusions. We all aren’t perfect. If it’s based on reality, I’ll agree with them. If it’s based on ignorance, I’ll try to re-educate them. If it’s based on hatred, I’ll either rebuke or ignore (something that depends on multiple factors).

“my point was is it common for non jews to think all orthodox girls get married young.”

Maybe you should stop reading children’s books and start learning the Torah. The behaviors’ that people claim they did (Knox & company) aren’t Ossur Al Pi Torah. We must have different Torahs. My Torah says they have 7 Mitzvos. Those touchy feely things are for Yidden. If they committed a crime which the Torah Assurs then they should be prosecuted. If not, not. What brings down the sanctity of this world is when the Goyim not only don’t prosecute people who live the Toievah lifestyle, but they celebrate it, esp. in NYS where such marriage is legal!

Don’t mix the two up. These two weren’t on trial for their behavior, but for specific crimes!
