“With only men voting we’d have had Republicans in charge of both the presidency and Congress for many consecutive decades by now.”

So if a woman would vote Republican, can she get special permission to vote? Or maybe we should just ban Democrats, and have politicians appointed by a special board of thought police?

“Rav Avraham Kook as well as Rav Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld as well as all the Gedolim were opposed to granting women suffrage.”

All the Gedolim, wow. Joe, if everyone was in agreement, why single out a Religious Zionist like Rav Kook? Seems like an odd choice for you.

No they shouldn’t. Which is why I always tell my date about my conditions and the meds I take. I don’t need a shatchan to tell her that; I’m an adult, and mature enough to tel my date that.

Ferd : “This is a major issue. I know a girl that married a guy only to find out two years in that he is on tons of meds. What a disaster”.
What is so terrible about someone taking medication? I take several myself, for different mental illnesses. They enable me to be successful in my career and family life, and I have been on 4th or 5th dates where I mentioned that do take meds. B’H all the women on those dates were vey understandable and supportive.
There is no need to hide the fact that so many of us in the Orthodox community take medication for mental illnesses.

Joseph, you say the issue is not about having friends. But you quote* Rav Miller saying “A chaver means somebody who helps you in your business”. That doesn’t sound like a chaver. That sounds like an accountant.

*Please don’t respond by saying something like “I was just citing a source”. I want to know what you think.

Leib, Judaism isn’t about bloodlines. It’s about Torah and Mitzvos. The best thing you could want for your sons is to marry girls who are dedicated to the Jewish way of life.

Also, why are Ashkenazim a first choice far and away?

Naziism was not socialist. The name is drawn from party members in the 20’s who were socialist. Nazi ideology went though many changes, especially in the 20’s, when there were left wing party members who advocated a socialist Germany, like the Strasser brothers. But those sides lost out.

One more time, you can prevent sport injuries with proper precautions. And the worst injuries are not as bad as anaphylaxis. Heart conditions can be tested for.

As DY said, I’m worried about the physical and emotional health of these children. I’m not worried about the child feeling inconvenienced. I fear for his self esteem. Eating lunch alone, or even getting to pick two friends to eat with, can have detrimental effect.

There are preventative measures to make sports safe. Batting helmets, shin guards…

There are preventative measures to make allergens safe. Banning them

This whole thread is confusing. On one side we have the risk of anaphylaxis, which leads me to side with those who want a peanut ban. On the other side we have…. what do we have? No one here has made a reasonable argument why they should be allowed despite the risks.

Health, you agree with me that regarding sports every precaution should be taken. If those safety measures are in place, we have no need to ban sports (not referring to contact football).

With allergies, talking every precaution requires the school to prohibit peanuts. There is no other alternative that I’m aware of.

Speaking as a graduate level Psychology student and soon to be therapist, I think you should give the get as soon as you can and start therapy for your PTSD. If your diagnosis is like you say it is, you must be in a great deal of pain. What you need is someone who can support you. It doesn’t seem like your wife is that person.

Even if you don’t give the get, you must seek help for yourself. There are several therapies that are effective in PTSD patients. Do yourself a favor and find a therapist to work with.

Nothing to do with a lower level or having more heteirim. You assume that we can learn the halachos of having children from the halachos of honoring one’s parents. Do you have a source for this?
