Yekke2, not getting tamei does not affect others. Refusing to marry someone and making a good frume zach out of it is a major bein odom le’chaveiro issue.(Needless to say not something Joeseph and his ilk would worry about.)

ZD, they had a problem in their community with men dating Goyishe girls whom they later would try to convert for the purposes of marriage. Obviously, there was a very strong concern about the validity of such conversions. Hence, the takonah.

A lot of your shittos, Joseph, really come from wrong preconceived hashkofos and not having “room in the heart”. Not every zach the Chassidim hold of is automatically correct.

If someone refuses to consider marrying a giyores because he does not like Geirim, indeed he would be oiver those issurim. People really need to know where their shittos really come from.

So, Joseph, you would not marry Rabbi Akiva’s daughter or Rus?I’d like to see you justify that.

Neville, suffice it to say that you have very unusual views on these matters. Most other Geirim would disagree.

Joseph, how about a Sefardi girl who grew up in America, in an Ashkenazi Beis Ya’akov who is ready to follow Ashkenazi minhagim if the husbans is an Ashkenazi who gets rejected out off hand because she’s Sefardi?

Generally speaking, if both spouses have middos tovos it can work out even if they come from different backgrounds. If they don’t have the middos, then even if they are from totally the same background, there will be problems.

Also, Joe, a most important principle: if there is room in the heart, there is room in the house.

Also, Neville, we are commanded concerning ahavas ha’Geirim very strongly (ke’ahavas SHmo) and prohibited from oppressing them. Hence people trying to defend them. Do you care about these mitsvos?

(Again, I believe you are no Ger.)

Joe and Neville, would you allow your daughter to marry Rabi Akiva?

Neville, I am outraged! I meant that Sefard marrying only Sedard is also not OK. Same goes for BTs only with BTs. It is obvious from the sources and the whole context.I expect an apology.

Also can it just be that you and Joe is one and the same person? I suspect very strongly that you are not a Ger.

Joseph, I was not advocating affirmative action. I was saying these people should be given fair consideration. I would marry Satmar (if she does not require a lot of chumros) or MO (if Halochically observant). Lubavitch and DL are questions of ideology. I never said there should be no hakpodos at all, Just some are invalid and harmful. And, Joe, remember Dinah bas Ya’akov!

A ben niddah? If he is a real ben niddah, it is a valid ta’anah.

Ashkenazi marrying only Ashkenazi? Not good. Look at the end of Ta’anis, the sugya of TU be’Av. Also, “Pele Yoetz”.

And, lastly, for sure, I would not want to marry a girl with your attitude!

    Joseph!

    1. Yes, people would rather have a job by such an employer than not to have one. It was especially true in earlier times when having a job meant having bread on the table to survive. SECONDLY, as DY wrote this employer needs to really check his level of ahavas Yirsoel and ahavas Geirim. Are these mitsvos as far as you go?

Neville CB, if one of the parents is indeed an FFB, I am not sure you arer right. If the FFB parent is actually an KFB (krum from birth — born in a frum family, but lacking Yiras Shamaim), you are for sure wrong! And there are many KFBs around. Also, if many people (often times, for krum reasons) “prefer” FFBs, that kills shidduchim for BTs. Paining another Yid not for a valid reason is an aveirah. And how about “closing the door in front of Ba’alei Teshuvah” and placing people at risk of going of the Derech?

Joseph, it used to be that in many countries people would not want to hire Jews. Do you think there was something wrong with that? Did it amount to a certain level of persecution?

147, don’t exchange one problem for a far worse one. Sorry for repeating myself. How about Trump declaring war on Mexico to make pay for the wall or nuking China or some other country which annoyed him, or making himself into a dictator. This German may turn on Israel or American Jews also. HOW CAN YOU NOT NOTICE THAT HE IS A WILD CARD, A CRAZY GUY?!?

Taakhmamash, Apushatayid, so to desecrate a second day of Yom Tov (which is de’rabbonon) he should listen to her?!? The anwer is — NO. I am not going to explain the sugya here all the way, but it would start from the limud “you and your father are obligated to honor Me” from where we learn that if your father asks you to do an aveirah — you don’t listen to him. Also you have to know what exactly happened there — she did not want him to drink at all or just not go with machmiring shittos.

Takahmamash, if a Yid violates the Torah it is business of other Yidden to stop him. Sometimes, it is impossible, but there is an obligation be’etzem.

Flatbusher and others, sholom bais overrides Halochah only when it is openly stated by the Poskim that it does. If she wants him to eat treif, should he?

Squeak, declaring war on Mexico –an absurd fabrication by the media to manipulate the weak minded? Really? Trump repeatedly promised to build a wall on the Mexican border and have Mexico pay for it. Now, for Mexico to do so would be a tremendous national humiliation. They will not do it unless defeated in a war or forced into it by very crippling international sanctions. So which one is Trump doing?

Since when being interesting, famous or exciting are good qualities for a presidential candidate?

He says he can do better. And you take him at his word?!?

What about his obvious and huge flaws? (See above posts.)

To vote for Trump is to risk another Mussolini or Hitler.

Nfgo3, you are very wrong. Rambam writes that we have an obligation to force the nations to follow the 7 mitzvos of Bnei Noach. Nowadays we can’t do it militarily, but we need to try to do what we can by other means. I am talking about the toeiva marriage. Plus, it can bad repercussions for the Jewish community to allow the immorality to flourish.

Newbee, Poland was a very different matzav when compared with Germany. The Haskolah and going off the derech came there much later, but were in full swing after WWI. The Polish Jewry was much less assimilated than the German one though.
