The left of what? The north pole?

I didn’t know we had a phsyical location. We should make our parties there. On the north pole I mean. Or whatever is left to there. How much left is more left? Is more a crptic number or something? Like 3.5% more to the left then we were before. Or perhaps 3.5467 inches to the left.

    Or centimiteres.

    Or planets!

Omigosh did we just move to the planet left of the north pole?

What does a man’s role have to do with herring?

in reply to: Who wears the pants in your house? #1115851

    My brother and father do.

    Segulos don’t work. People do.

I’m a teenage female and I’m NOT chassidish and I like herring so ha!

@son- I’m specifically looking to go english for a year. Sick of the hebrew/ And HW in hebrew is difficult. In HS I’ve been getting tons of slack-but anywhere else I won’t. I’ve been here for too long.

@writersoul- you got any info? What is this michlala called? The hebrew program and where is it so I can ask?

    Seriously? PLEASE PLEASE MODS!!

in reply to: I know this sounds like a stupid question… #1114059

writersoul- makes sense why they don’t want us. What place has a program for me on year to year basis?

Defintely heard of chedvas. Machon Raaya isn’t for me. I’m looking into Bnos Avigail and Lalavi for now.

in reply to: Suggest subtitles for others (okay, and yourself…) #1152652

Can you change mine. Do something interesting and weird. Surprise me.

in reply to: I know this sounds like a stupid question… #1114057

@son- Ofakim is pretty popular, but I don’t know if I’m willing to figure out what’s really going there. When our teachers brought in alumnei to spoeak about schools they tried to convince us that their school makes girls come out special all except the girl from Ofakim. All she tried to do was convince us that they don’t brainwash you there.

Not sure if they brainwash you or not, but if it’s that bad that that was the ONLY thing she spoke about the entire time there must be something different there. Whether bad or good. I have no more comments on Ofakim. Also I’m looking for school in English…

@Nochama- I know about maslulim. But there are options for people not INTERESTED in maslulum and I’m not. At least not for next year. Beasides for maslulim there are courses, you can get a job, go to sem, go to university, learn online, go to michlala…

BTW I call maslulim seminarim. When I say seminary- I mean seminary. Like a year of kodesh. Like the sems I have been talking about. I am aware of maslulim and most of my class is doing that but it’s not for me, at least for the coming year.

    @BOTH pf you

I’m still a bit nervous to go into JS. I will do so if I have to, but not yet.

in reply to: I know this sounds like a stupid question… #1114053

Did I ever say I lived in Jerusalem?

There is a about another 200 cities, moshavim, and towns (or more) in Israel besides Yerushalayim.

in reply to: I know this sounds like a stupid question… #1114051

Why don’t I just walk in? Well I do want to but I’m not interested in getting killed in the proccess. Do you know how many attacks are going on in JS still?

LF: I have a comment. My comment is not comment except thank you for your helpful comment. The site helped me out a lot.

in reply to: I know this sounds like a stupid question… #1114045

You seem to be new here. Welcome!

We don’t give out personal info here, so I cannot say. Plus, if anyone did find out who I was-I don’t think getting into sem would be too easy.

    You israeli/american too?

in reply to: how to find something i lost #1154375

Decide on a place and tell yourself it will be the last place you look. It will be there. 😉

in reply to: I know this sounds like a stupid question… #1114042

For israeli’s-yeah. American israeli’s- like 2. I feel I need to choose from more options. I’m not interested in an israeli one. It’s a different mentality and idea of what they want to gain from the year. For them it’s like an extended year of HS. They have a homeroom teacher and also learn secular stuff.

in reply to: I know this sounds like a stupid question… #1114040

Lol, I guess you are right.

Hopefully I will find my place! Anyone have contact info for chedvas or ki tov sachrah?

in reply to: I know this sounds like a stupid question… #1114037

Open houses are only in the USA. They don’t have them here. Israeli mentality- if you want it-come and find us yourself lol.

Anyway, so far many seminaries have turned me down by the fact I live in Israel. It’s straight out racism I tell you!

in reply to: Why do so many people give the advise "ask your local orthodox rabbi" #1113299

The expression LOR was formed before there were 50 rabbis on every block. No one changed the expression since. If you want-go ahead and try to make a revolution. In any case, there are questions you could ask about a TOR. Is he trusted? How do you know?….and so on…

in reply to: Making your kids pay for a cleaning lady #1113456

Taking ut the garbage involves issues in a possibility in getting dirty.

in reply to: Making your kids pay for a cleaning lady #1113449

But it’s not her responsibility. If they are 3 adults living in a huge house they shouldn’t be making such a big mess. It seems like most of the rooms aren’t normally in use so it doesn’t make a difference if she lives at home or not.

in reply to: Making your kids pay for a cleaning lady #1113443

Well if she is that busy why should she be pitching in for other people. The way I see it if she pitches in her share than it’s fine. What if she didn’t live at home? There would still be the same ammount of work and the mom would have to pay for a cleaning lady anyway. If she’s pitching in enough that her presence isn’t adding to the balagan so it doesn’t matter!!!

in reply to: Making your kids pay for a cleaning lady #1113437

A good compromise is having the post high school girl make sure her room is clean, the area she works in is clean. To be responsible for her messes. When she uses something she puts it away, when she works in the kitchen she cleans up after herself. When she involves in a project/or does something with other family members such as eats dinner, plays a game-she cleans up heer share.

What is this need for a cleaning lady?!? She should also have to pitch in a bit on shabbos to clean up after the younger ones since that’s when she has a it of a break. Shabbos is long enough to pitch in for an hour or two and get in extra sleep in the USA

I just wonder how many of the people posting on this thread actually

    1) Live in Israel

    2) If don’t will be convinced by this thread to move.

in reply to: DO WE REALLY HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE TO LIVE IN CHUTZ LA'ARETZ? #1112961

yytz- Listen. I know first hand it’s a major culture shock. Coming to Israel as an adult with your family is different. You rely on your husband, and aren’t creating who you want to be. For a teen it’s much harder. Everything was different-the fashion, language, culture, food. Girls have a different mentality, talk differently….

in reply to: DO WE REALLY HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE TO LIVE IN CHUTZ LA'ARETZ? #1112914

yytz- that’s wonderful for kids growing UP here-but transitioning is really hard. Unless you know people personally you can’t even understand it! I know a family who made aliyah- one of their teens tried to commit suiced twice and had to be sent back to a mental hospital in the US to recover for a year or 2. Another of of their kids got PTSD and all her hair fell out. I know a few girls that got lost to arab marriages too. Of course eretz yisroel is amazing and all and that should motivate people to become frummer-

If you lose everything in your life that you love- your friends, school, extended family, city, malls, all at once it IS very traumatic!

One must have crazy emunah to hold on and hope this is all for the best instead of lashing out at the world. I don’t even want to get started about some situations I almost got into but did not only because I trusted in Hashem. But it is so much easier to give up, lash out, and etc when you are ripped apart from all that is dear to you at such a pivotal stage in your life.

Do you know hwo many kids run away and then fall trap to arabs and no one will know since everyone thinks they have just run away for a while and are at friends. You think it’s publicly announced every time someone falls prey? Is it announced every time one marries a goy? Or has cancer?

Teens that are confused, alone, hate themselves, their family, the world, Hashem, and just want someone who cares can easily fall prey to arabs. Unfortunately I know of many. And such people may be lost phsyically not only spiritually. I don’t even know if some of these people are still ALIVE.

If you lose your kid to a goy-it hurts. But losing your kid to an abusive manipulative guy assuring you will never see your child again-that is way worse.

In any case, let’s stop about the arab/goys. So many kids who make aliyah try to commit suicide, go on drugs, and much worse….

ASK A RAV. ASK YOUR KIDS!!!!

in reply to: DO WE REALLY HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE TO LIVE IN CHUTZ LA'ARETZ? #1112898

Whoever said going OTD in israel is better than is the US is wrong

    1. Your kid has a 50 percent more chance of going OTD in Israel! If you didnt move theres a good chance they wouldn’t even DREAM or WANT to go OTD. Even if you have the frummest kid with a great family and friends….who really loves Hashem-you still got a good chance she/he will go OTD if thrown into a new country during his/her teens years.

    2. Marrying a Jew….-right. Uh, do you want to know the percentage of the frum kids lost to arab marriages that made aliyah versus not? It is considerably higher….

Kids feeling alone and looking for someone-not knowing how the country works can easily by manipulated by an arab pretending to be a Jew. If they go there they are almost seriously lost forever. Not just spiritually….

    in reply to: KOSEL #1113827

They have a few places in the kosel tunnels, including the spot closest to the kodesh hakedoshim. Near the kotel they have a place where there are actual stones f the beis hamikdash that were thrown over the outer wall-you can daven there. Also, there is a mini kosel in the old city.

I personally would only do those things on the kosel plaza. That is okay. But past the fence my phone is on silent and I rarely see people doing these things.

in reply to: DO WE REALLY HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE TO LIVE IN CHUTZ LA'ARETZ? #1112843

I live in Eretz Yisroel and its the best place EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!11

But seriously, think it through when you have teens. There’s a 50 percent chance I would of gone OTD, true- I didn’t. I managed to almost finish high school without doing anything crazy. (Still got a few months left..) but seriously. You can destroy people this way.

Ask a Rav. That’s a legit reasons to stay in chul.

The real question is, why didn’t you move before you had kids?

Okay…amazing! Thank you so much! I think these are the ones I’m going to look into bezrat hashem!!!

in reply to: Women smoking? #1108196

Because it’s looks disgusting. A lady should not smoke, first of all it’s bad for anyone, men or women, and second of all it looks so street/gangster like for girls and it’s disgusting. Why would you want to ruin your family?

You need to be healthy enough to get pregnant, and I don’t think you should/can smoke when pregnant. That’s a problem if you plan on having like 10 kids..

    Many reasons.

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106694

Everyone I know in real life (Not on the CR) tells me to go to Chedvas. My mechaneches this year asked me when I spoke to her last “Have you heard of Chedvas? It would be great for you next year”

I will try out for Chedvas, but I want to have other options. I feel that one of the reasons I keep getting advice to go there is because it’s a very well known sem over here versus the ones you guys are mentioning.

I guess I’ll have to look into Pninim, but Chedvas I’m definitely signing up for. Everyone who knows me tells me it’s my type. I just don’t want to just jump there without hearing about other places too, you know?

I didn’t know chutz la’artzim only can go for shana bet….I was hoping I’d befriend girls from chutzz la’aretz too. Do they at least dorm together? I am aware classes are separate but do they have a lot of time to interact with each other and girls make friends, or not so?

    Thanks everyone for your help.

So can anyone tell me what Levavi is like? Or give me a run down of Pninim in a paragraph. And how do you “look into” a sem? Go there? Find alumnei? How?

in reply to: Sems like Machon Raya? #1120293

    Is Bnos Avigail academic?

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106691

I thought Pninim was like less BY. I know people who went to Pninim and they aren’t my type. Isn’t Chedvas like Pninim but frummer?

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106689

Right, so I guess I’ll have to do stuff out of sem hours….

I don’t have a smartphone,(see I am more BY) and I’m not interested in getting one at all. I use my laptop.

I’m pretty much looking for a BY, but not one that makes all the girls into a mold. Strong hashkofos, a mix of girls, teachers that get close to the students, and not academic-learning for the sake of learning.

Thank you everyone who had answered me already.

Technically, if my new site for teens gets rabinical backing (which I’m working on as we speak) then possibly I hope I could get a pass to work on it every day for a half an hour or something.

in reply to: Sorry… Another Sem Thread… #1106275

As a student or a teacher? Or are you joking?

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106686

I’m actually doing productive stuff online. Technically it’s work…writing mostly.

I heard Chedvas is like Pnimim but a bit frummer…I don’t consider myself to be BY but since BY is much frummer in E”Y than it is in america and I’m in israeli BY school I guess I say I qualify as an american BY girl. I’m looking for a mix.

I need that the teachers should by BY, but as long as I’m not the frummest kid- there a bunch on my level, and a bunch not than I’m fine.

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106684

It’s not a deal breaker. But I’m working on a few webistes, and I can’t neglet them for a year! I’m trying to work on a website for frum teenagers, and right now were not a big team. I suppose I could survive without it but it’s going to be very frustrating.

I guess technically articles and stuff I can do offline and publish everything once a week. Internet is NOT a dealbreaker. I’m heavily leaning toward Chedvas and I have no idea what their policy is on it.

Can someone tell me a bit about Ateres, Hadar, and Seminar. Don’t just throw out names- write a sentence or two about them too!

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106675

Nah, I got out of my service already….

I just want to find the right seminary.

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106672

No, I want to go to sem. For growth, change, and to learn. WHat is MO? I’m just asking about Tomer Devorah, I don’t knwo what it’s like though

in reply to: Sorry… Another Sem Thread… #1106273

Plus most people stick to HS’s in their city.

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106670

What’s midreseht tehilla like? Most people have been telling me to go to Chedvas. But that might be cuz it’s a famous sem over here. I wouldn’t mid going to a new or/and less known sem.

in reply to: Another Sem thread. But really, please- open me anyway! #1106669

I want to go to sem cuz I feel I need an extra year of kodesh. I spend most of my high school life trying to become a an adult. I feel I need more mentors in my life, and I want to learn more before I really start life.

Yeah, I wonder what Chedvas’ policy is on internet…

    It’s seriously insane.

in reply to: Sems like Machon Raya? #1120285

My teacher is israeli and doesn’t know any american sems except for Chedvas and Chana Kitov’s new seminary.
