As much as I want to hide my identity from family members who know me, I cant, so changing s/n again won’t work. The best I can do is to put a {Family Don’t Look} at the beginning of a post I’d rather not have them read. Oh really. Maybe mods could institute a system whereby my posts are invisible to anyone logged on with the account of Deleted or Deleted. (Oops did I just give them away?)

Actually I was referring to time spent on Nach at the expense of in-depth learning (halachah & gemarah), and for males. I suppose you’re a female (as your subtitle suggests, unless you’re telling us a “bubba” maisa!), so for you, aderabah, to the contrary, it’s a most commendable, meritorious occupation. Valuable life lessons, knowledge, mussar, middos etc. and so much more to be gleaned from learning Nach throuh and with the perushim of our Torah greats.
And charliehall, That’s just what I was getting to, it IS considered Talmud Torah, just not at the same level as regular in-depth learning of a blatt Gemarah. Not my own revelation here – it’s somewhere in gemarah or mishnah. (I think Rabbi Soloviechick says something about “bitul torah” to hear megillah)
I’m far from being a Gadol (actually my name itself suggests so!), I know pesukim (even obsecure ones too).
The reason why we don’t spend so much time on them is plain, we’re occupying ourselves with the Torah shebeal peh, the portion luckily not plundered, plagiarized by the goyim. They have nothing more to fool themselves, with so they suffice with their pithy understanding of their “verses”. We however derive our understandings based on our tradidition, our Torah greats, our oral Torah. We glean the meaning of Tanach (all of it) from the pages of Gemarah, medrashim etc.
Indeed, correct me if I’m wrong, I think it’s called bitul Torah to involve oneself with Neviim and Kesuvim instead of Gemarah.
