Oh do I remember this one!!! This is one of those questions that come around from year (or maybe 2, or maybe 3 or maybe 4, but definitely not 5) years. That’s how I gauge how much time (what’s that?) has passed. So if I remember correctly from last time, the first answer is that I don’t comment here. That answers all questions.
The second answer is mostly to drive people off the web, back into the world of reality – of people, places and things. So when I go and rant my mind off, that in of itself is a great incentive.
The third answer is the sometimes I may THINK I have something important enough to broadcast to the world at large, something I felt the world is just waiting for…
Fourth – sometimes just a quip, a joke (r”l) or a line, maybe a word of Chizuk, something to share with another, something which to brighten up another person’s day. A kind word, a virtual smile / giggle, a thoughtful piece of comfort… Bringing a lift to another, to changes another’s bleak, dismal outlook to that of a bright, sunny future…
Olam Chesed Yibaneh – that’s what we’re all here for, no?April 21, 2020 11:10 pm at 11:10 pm in reply to: Corona is another step in our long Golus. A nisayon, not a rejection. #1851660
Haimy, Nice piece. Thank you!
I guess it’s bashert no one read this… (posted last night)
Thank you, all.
I feel lately like I’ve joined in and participated with צרת הכלל. I found out what I need a head for (where else would you put an ongoing pounding headache?), the lungs and etc.
Hallucinating forever in bed, I gained another insight into the words וחכמים כבלי מדע, ונבונים כבלי השכל.
Imagine – so many organizations and centers, bureaus, offices and divisions all charged with keeping our world safe. They’re all preparing bedavka for such a scenario… such an occurrence… years and years, study after study, universities after universities – all in guard to ward off such a massive catastrophe. What is the WHO for? CDC? And all the rest. All the brains, from the top medical advisor all the way to the bottom. WHERE ARE THEY?!? And a lot of them saw it coming (as will be unveiled to the public in the coming days, months, when each entity knew what), and did not or could not do anything to prevent this.
There’s this famous clip of the PM in Eretz Yisroel being interviewed by a secularist and HE says something about davening to HaShem… The matzav is definitely causing a lot of people to realize that אין לנו להישען אלא על אבינו שבשמים.
At the precise time He deems fit, a cure / remedy / vaccine will be discovered. I beg you, HaShem, please make it quickly. Too many karbanos.
Sam: the question was what are you doing while at home, not what I can do. (I don’t suppose you’re learning with my children..)
If you want to fast from today till next doomsday it’s fine with me, or most people, don’t spew your contorted ideas on others… Yes, everyone knows its a time for teshuva, no need to cash in on it (like every time something happed…) There are true Gedolim who we follow, who we listen to… No one call for fasting – actually REAL Gedolim stated to the contrary – one should absolutely NOT fast in a time like this.
Don’t know. Seems like the place here is also in the blink. I’m having major problems logging on from my computer (something about ssl giberish).
And I can’t log on to the main section. So I’ll have to post it here – it’s about the piece “NYC Passes 20,000 Coronavirus Cases; NYS Has 12,000”, which was funny last night, because then it read “NYC Passes 20,000 Coronavirus Cases; NYC Has 12,000” – see url. OK. They fixed it. Oh really? Anyone else out there chaps?!? (No I don’t mean outside rachmana litzlan, lo aleinu, chas v’sholom – I mean out here in this world)
hint, for those on planet Z, NYC is a city (always wondered what the C stands for) in NYS (assuming S stand for state)
Reminds me of a sign…
Last one alive please shut the lights…
No. I’m in my over the ground bunker…. Dose anyone know – is there any weather outside today?
I remember watching some time ago a debate with someone about the era of Mashiach. And the guy asked the Rabbi “Do you really believe the whole world is going to collapse or maybe some otherworldly disaster or occurrence will descend from above”? And the Rabbi replied that he doesn’t know exactly how it would unfold, only that we’ll know when it happens.
Yes, it IS unfolding right here (and there and everywhere) before our very own eyes! Something so NATURAL AND SPECTACULAR! Both, together, concurrently. HaShem is using his very natural nature to show his might and glory! ואין מידי מציל, no technical advances can defeat His will, no scientific developments will overcome His bidding. עד עת בא דברו, until He wills it, until He sends His word forth…then the בורא רפואות can and will send (by simple discovery or difficult, complicated experimentations ) a medicine or vaccination, or just make it disappear!!!
And another thought:
Recognize the influence and affect of one bad, evil contact. There are one million healthy people and all you need is just one infected to cause all of them to catch it. No amount of health, no strength in numbers (majority) is going to help. Only cleanliness, removal of the effect – disinfecting, isolation etc., where one removes the germ in its entirety. Once it enters – it’s a different story…
So too, the hashpoah of a bad neighbor, acquaintance, friend, contact. Just as a thousand tahor utensils won’t clean a tamai one, to the contrary – they all become tamai from the lone tamai one…
(if this doesn’t end soon… I’m going to be at this until…)
Does this thing go away once I’m finished cleaning for Pesach?
I’d say Frielach translates to happy, and Tamid means always.
So, it could be, maybe, possibly, that instead of vinching (it’s a special kind of tool) you a happy Purim, he’s wishing you a happy forever. (most people are happy on Purim, why’d you need a Bracha for that?)

Oh, and if you meet up with one of those crazies you could send them regards from the globe called Brooklyn. It’s not sinking, last I checked. Here to stay for as long as HaShem wills it. They can come live here from all those remote areas of their “globe” they claim is going under — “within 12 years!!”
— to get it out of your system
I’m almost sure the notzrim did not speak English
You ARE a Kluger Yid!!!
Sorry for that long winded derasha, Certainly did not mean it to be “lofty” or anything of that sort.
To clarify, of course I pick the better of the two… And there are two issues I’d like to further clarify:
#1) He doesn’t go around throwing, spewing and broadcasting his lifestyle upon us. A goy, like all other goyim, some with a bit more, some with a bit less.. nothing for a Yid to admire. Again, as Rabbi Miller זצ”ל says over and over, the best of אומות העולם cannot hold a candle the the lowest of עם הקודש. But the mere fact he doesn’t turn it into some “pride”, that of itself is something.
#2) He’s OUR PRESIDENT now. And Chazal say גם במדעך מלך אל תקלל, I think it surely applies to our sitting President. We don’t curse or bad-mouth him.
#3) As someone else mentioned, his views aren’t skewed, they’re more aligned with an upright, moral standard of lifestyle. As opposed to the others who are so open headed and mindless. Right and wrong are so skewed… They’re worried about a planet they “claim” is sinking while they disregard their morals which has sunk.. to the depths…
We, as Yidden (that’s ‘Jews’, for the uneducated), have to stand up for what’s moral, upright, upstanding. And our ‘neighbors’ acknowledge that, they expect us, as HaShem’s chosen people, to do so. And that’s why every misstep chalila makes it into the news. Because we have a higher standard, a higher calling – whether we like it or not. We’re expected to behave differently.
As a visibly identifiable Yid (again, that’s a Jew), we cannot condone nor disregard moral depravity. It has to be called out again and again. It has to be known that “while current U.S. law cannot forbid, nevertheless it is still utter depravity. And I abhor it and call it out in no uncertain terms. I know it and you know it too.” Yes, it’s freedom of speech. Standing up for what’s moral is not outlawed (YET). Let them hear it over and over again, just as much as the democrats and liberals try to spew THEIR filth onto us. Just as much as they’re trying to rip away at human society, at the last visage of Godly grace, צלם אלקים.
President Trump, with all his … notwithstanding, still appears to hold on to these last stands of decency. Think of the moral decisions he’s made whether abortions, toeva community, so-called climate concerns… He’s also used his guts to stand up to the nations and do what needed to be done, whether Israel, UN, Iran, North Korea, China. He’s got a spine like no other president I can remember, BECAUSE of his personality. While we may not necessarily like it, sometimes it seems a bit… it’s all tools the manner he presides. That’s the President HaShem has chosen for us, הממליך מלכים, and he comes with all his tools. And boy has he made a splash – in the right direction.
These other no-gooders (dems, libs, וכל טמא לנפש), are just concerned with their power, their own agenda which is to wipe off the last visage of shame from human society. Anything’s ok. Just do your one thing. And then turn it into a pride!! Hear that?! Turn shame into pride. Disgusting. And then these nincompoops who want to tear down human society, are so concerned about climate change. (For those who don’t recall – first it was global warming… but when proven that there’s nothing to substantiate that claim, they turned their mission to climate change. Like in the olden times the weather didn’t change!) Which again, all these Copenhagen chachmei Chelm notwithstanding, there’s nothing to back their claim either. No – AOC and Co. – the world is not going away in twelve years! Unless Brooklyn is from some other planet, I don’t see it sinking.
What is sinking at an alarming rate is basic human decency. But OH. And Duh! That’s what dems and libs are all about.
Is that the guy from the snow removal fiasco, the one who had others fired because of HIS blunders?!?
Is that the guy who changed the laws to allow himself to be mayor for three terms and then afterwards changed it back so that no one else could do it?!?
What does wiring have to do with the lifespan of the LED?
How ’bout me?
Sorry. I’m going to have to wait until next year’s nittel to cont<<LINE CUT OFF>>
Am I an “intelligent yid”? I’m far out here in the CR planet.
Hurry… Fast… Anyone?!?
Just 20 minutes left…
I’m big. Pretty big. (OK, not pretty, but big) And I try to learn Daf Yomi. Does that mean I’m not a Rabbonim?
And I was thinking that this crowd over here supposedly of the “Yeshiva” type (as is Yeshiva World), would appreciate Gedolim. Good Heavens – this was a Siyum Hashas for some people (for those uneducated – that’s the completion of the Babylonian Talmud “daily reading”), they’re here to celebrate that long milestone with some meaning, feeling, inspiration. They’re not here for some concert with those other “gedolim”, who’ve nebach become the leaders of today’s lost sheep. They were here to bestow nachas to HaShem, to be encouraged to plow on. To give encouragement…
True, some singing is in store… a Chasuna needs music and dancing (and what a chasuna it was), but let’t not forget the Ikkur. Our heros are our Torah Gedolim, not those musical artists. We (should, of course) strive to emulate the ways of our Torah greats, it is to them alone who we look up to.
Yeah…. reminds me… Does anyone know how to post something here?
LOOOOOOOOOONG time no see…. (actually, that’s a good sign!) Hope everything is fine…
Chash… Obviously you’re new here. This place has been “home” to many peoples, all walks of life, for many a year. You may not know… this place – scratch that – this home has a long history. Some have moved out, (some have moved UP) some are still here. This place went through a LOT (putting it mildly), many cycles… ups and downs, right, left and mostly upside down! Many personalities, opinions, feelings, ideas and ideals. Each had what to offer… Every once and a while someone ‘from the old time’ would come by and leave another “I WAS HERE (AGAIN)” post in the form of another quip…
Though I may not “Know” my sister at the opposite side of the mechitza, a fitting Mazel Tov best wishes is surely proper. Family is family, no?!?
Syag… It’s my fault… I got up in the morning in a good mood… trying to see the good, the brighter side in everything.
See? Here (center of the world, “YiddishKite”,aka BP) is’t a bright, glorious rainy day today!!!
Syag… Please allow me this once…. I think just a casual reading of the post make it abundantly clear he was only pulling the OP’s leg. Albeit his modus operandi… In my opinion it was surely in jest.. too appealing to let it go by..
That’s WONDERFUL news. Thanks for sharing with us.
May you build a home together worthy of having the Shechina join in. May accomplishment, happiness, gladness and goodness accompany you and yours forever more…

Sometimes you have to park “out of town”, and walk to your house!!
Who revived this one?!? I totally forgot!!!
(and still no one ‘chapped’ the pun intended in the question)
Who cares? It’s the “PARK” that’s a misnomer. Ever tried?!?
EXACTLY!!!!! And that is exactly the reason why it’s so disrespectful towards HaSHem!!!
Should the honor of people be greater than HaShem’s?
and btw, in my Shul, when one of these “holy masmidim” (oh, don’t worry, only during davening) get up to speak, I make it my business to occupy myself with a sefer, book, news-clipping, or spec of dust. In the eyes of others he may be respected, not by me. You don’t have time for HaShem, your losing your patience in His service – I have no need for you too. <read above post>
He ate? He only served!!!November 30, 2019 11:52 pm at 11:52 pm in reply to: How should one protest against shmoozers during davening? #1806045
Word is getting around… I’ve noticed more shuls being quieter…
On a different note… interesting this topic just got bumped now… there was a Torah dedication last week. The donor was actually not a mispalel of that shul. He chanced by once and noticed there is absolutely NO TALKING there period. He was big onto the movement of not talking in shul. So he decided to donate a Sefer Torah to that shul.November 28, 2019 9:30 am at 9:30 am in reply to: Caution: People in YWN-CR may be lesser than they appear #1805489
Took you five years to realize you weren’t joking?!? (and how do you remember something you wrote five years ago?)
Then how did this go through? <<DELETED>>
Any other ideas or ways to show disrespect and impatience with HaShem???
Wannan learn? Do it at YOUR expense, while you’re eating, hwhile you’re working, while you’re shmoozing… There’s no greater disrespect towards HaShem than coming in to HIS house and DISREGARDING HIM. Anyone who does this instantly looses my respect toward him. המחלל את השם גופו מחוללת על הבריות.
Yeah, I know, today when you come in to a Shul to daven, there are these “news stands” where you can pick any of the many “news” bletelach. Torah of course. “150 THINGS TO DO INSTEAD OF DAVENING” Truly disgusting.November 22, 2019 1:01 pm at 1:01 pm in reply to: Important things to know before choosing camp for your daughter #1803407
It all depends how big this camp is. If it’s a small camp, as the OP stated, then NO, you can’t expect a camp like that to absorb the cost.
There are other GREAT camps out there. A lot of them have the TCs way more than the rest.November 21, 2019 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm in reply to: Important things to know before choosing camp for your daughter #1803086
A camp with 70 girls up to ninth grade. So I assume it’s 7, 8 and 9th. Now, 70 girls divided by three would make it to 23 and a third girls per grade. Pretty small for a camp, you;d say.
Anyways, if it’s a camp that has only 50 in the TC, its quite small, and it would be unrealistic to DEMAND someone be admitted without having to foot the bill this extra admission necessitated. Think buses, outings, food, bedding, indeed – room and board. What if an extra bunk has to be built just for your daughter? They MUST except anyone at their expense. Think about it. And it’s a camp not a school, which while some consider it a necessity, it’s technically a luxury.
I happen to be closely involved in a camp (slightly bigger), so I know what goes on (no, I’m not the Boss…yet!). And I think, as a parent, the important thing to know about a camp is its clientele – what are the girls like. And is the camp selective, do they research the girls they admit. What are the camp policies? These (the girls) are the people who are going to greatly affect and shape your daughters’ future. There are many camps out there each offering a unique something. Each with it’s own balance of Ruchnius and Gashmius. Remember – one summer can uplift like nothing during the year can. And, regretfully too, the same the other way…
This should be the main point.
Just wondering…. what…… ????
