There is not as much state control as you think, Yes there is curriculum, but if there was state control they would control alot more.

Any “Subsidies” for private schools are not popular as it is and any accomodation would likley be elimiated like Busing for private schools (Dont think its not on the table) or “Mandated Service” they can force you to send your kid to public school. Bloomberg essentially did this, They fought everyone who tried to get some accomodation outside public schools even though initially it costed the city more money in legal fees than it was worth. But many parents were scared or unable to pay for legal fees and gave in

It was pretty much word for word copying from the actual letter, I did transliterate The hebrew into english letters like the word Shlita or Rosh Yeshiva and its possible I missed a word or 2

    I said Anti-internet letter

It said the Rosh Yeshiva will not go to the wedding of a couple who have unfiltered internet including the Kallahs family who did not attend this yeshiva (Its clear it was a boys school)

A key component in building a Bayit Neamna v-yisroel is creating and maintaining a Makom KOdesh. A home or workplace even with filtered internet is by no means an opitmal situation. We have heard from Rabbanim and roshe Yeshiva alike that over the last few years the problems they face from these devices are unprecidented

as per the Gedoli Yisroelthe rosh yeshiva and any member of the Kehila will be unable to attend the wedding who will have unfiltered internet in their house, Home , or on their phone/devices at work. (Extra care must be taken that phones are filted by TAG or anyone else approved by the Ichul Haklakl. It is strongly advised to avoid all smartphones

Below is (I couldnt read) for the bride and groom to accept these Takanos, It cannot be changed by either party regardless of the circumstances without explicit permission from the Rosh Yeshiva Shlita

Please note these takanos were written with care and concern for our talmidim to enhnace our home for generations to come

The letter had an e-mail address and the domain went to a page that accepted payment

There was a yeshiva in Monsey that sent out an anti-internet letter with the children (I think it was a boys schools)

There was an e-mail address on the letter and I typed in the domain name and it was a website to give money to the yeshiva

If there would be statewide funding, there would also be statewide control

There is no way they would ever give state funding and local control meaning basically they are spending someone elses money. Not gonna happen in this lifetime

While I have misgivings about raising tzdekah for this purpose (I think the money could have been put to better use, 1.6 Million is alot of money) but that is another issue

I dont think its a problem with tax deduction, You can give the yeshiva a donation and they are allowed to give bonuses to their employees for any reason , sort of like you are allowed to give the yeshiva a donation and they are allowed to pay salaries with the money, they can give a bonus and the employee can do what they want with the money, pay rent or pay for a wedding

In some places (New York for sure), in some circumstances, he can be thrown into prison.

I dont think so, especially if someone claims its against their religous belifes not to give one

In America, they can only penalize him financially, which they are already doing.

In America unless there was a prenup. there arent any financial penalties either and its possible there might not be any social pressures either.

Some of the recaltraint husband left Judaism and could care less about the Get or that they cant get an aliyah in Shul

Is making kids eat vegetables child abuse?

Food can be used as abuse

Once I was at someone’s house for shabbos and the father ordered his son to eat chulent, the son refused saying he didnt want to be fleishig, the father forced the son to come over and eat a spoonful of chulent. One can see a similar circumstance with vegetables

Do a little research Every language (except some minor ones) have an institute

French has one, Spanish has one, Hebrew has one even Ladino has one. Only english does not

There was plenty of serious books written in yiddish most famously Tevye the Milkman (Fiddler on the roof) by Sholom Alecheim. Issac Bashevis Singer (Yentl) won a Nobel Prize in Literature for writing in Yiddish.

Proper means sentance structure, how to congrugate nouns , verbs etc (English grammar is pretty simple as there are no masculine and feminine congrugation)

There isnt exactly anything as “proper yiddish” anymore

Most languages (except english) have institutes that determine what words are deemed to be words in that language, they also determine proper spelling and grammar. The Yivo is the institute for yiddish, however the people who mostly speak yiddish today do not care what the yivo says, so if a word creeps into yiddish in the chassidic world and the yivo says not a word , they dont care and they will use it anyway.

For girls there are other issues, like the founder of the Anti-kiruv place. She was told to get married young and have lots of kids, she didnt want to , because she wanted to go to college and become a lawyer. Because she was not given an opportunity to be frum and go to college, she left frumkeit, became frei and went to college anyway.

In other subjects if you dont like them you can take something else

Not everyone likes math for example, if they dont like math there is a minmum to take and then you take something else. However with learning not only are people who dislike it forced to do it, they are many times forced to do more

It doesnt work, rather than have somone learn 8 hours a day, we can find other things that they are good at that can help the community.

A boy who cannot learn, but can do carpentry is labeled a Nebbuch

My highly biased answer, which applies to everyone who went off the derech: Because they were not getting enough out of frumkeit,

    Why is that biased?

People who are happy and content usually stay where they are, its people who are not happy and content that will seek other paths

I suppose you could, however you could never get exact as people are transiant and what would you do about non frum in Monsey or frum in Clarkstown

Yiddish is closer to german than it is to hebrew. its a Germanic Language mot a Hebraic Language

that being said, the easiest way to learn is to listen to it being spoken especially about a topic that you know about (ie the speaker tell you before what he is speaking about so you can get ideas what is being said)

there are also some old Yiddish movies that would help you and give you visial clues of what is being said so you can figure out the words.

Just going to a shiur and listening to a speaker likely wont work unless you know what the topic is

The NY Times has been critical of East Ramapo. Today it had a summary of the legislative sessions which closed on friday and no mention of the deal/ Certainly you would think they would mention it even in a negative way.

It does make me think it was really less than a band-aid and basically insignificiant

Special services are mandated by law, the debate is how to administer those services

The board can decide whatever it wants to give as busing, however given the limited funds, it cannot give additional busing at the expensive of Art and Gym (Both are mandatory in NY)

How far would you feel comfortable allowing your first-grader to walk to and from school?

It should be whatever the public schools get, however given the shortage of funds here and everything is cut, it needs to be the minimium in the state law and not anymmore unless people are willing to pay

that being said, I dont think busing is the issue, its special services that is causing the huge deficit in East Ramapo
