AUDIO – Rav Shteinman Shlita Says Vote Chareidi

shteinman.jpg(AUDIO LINK AT END OF ARTICLE) An urgent gathering was held on Monday in the presence of Maran HaRosh Yeshiva HaGaon HaRav Aryeh Leib Shteinman Shlita and roshei yeshiva and kollel heads, in the Ahavas Torah Shul in Yerushalayim.

According to the Ladaat report, also present was one of the prominent roshei yeshiva of Mir, Rav Yitzchak Zarchi, as well as Hagon HaRav Chaim Pinchas Sheinberg Shlita.

Understandably, the apex of the gathering was the address by Rav Shteinman Shlita, who called on the tzibur to endorse the chareidi candidate in the mayoral race in order to be “Mekadesh Shem Shamayim”.

Maran Rosh Yeshiva continued that “Am Yisrael throughout the generations in golus fought to sanctify Hashem’s name, quoting Rabeinu Yona, that it is better for one to sanctify Hashem’s name than to worship idols.

Mayoral candidate Meir Porush arrived during the kenos, which was also attended by thousands of avreichim and bochrim.

  1. “That it is better for one to sanctify Hashem’s name than to worship idols.”
    Huh??????????????????????????
    The Shul Is “Ahavas Torah”

  2. quoting Rabeinu Yona, that it is better for one to sanctify Hashem’s name than to worship idols.

There has to be someting lost in the translation or the context of tha baove quote is missning.

What has giving up one’s life to avoid worshiping idols have to do with the mayoral elections.

Did the Maran Roshe Yeshiva mean
    1. That voting for a Charedi would be Mekadesh Shem Shamayim.
2 That voting for a non-Charedi is equiavalent to idol worship requiring one to sacrifice one’s life not to do so.
    3. Both 1 and 2
    4. None of the above.

  3. SORRY # 6
