VIRAL VIDEO: Rockland Sheriff Vehicle Hits Hasidic Female Pedestrian In New Square

The attached video has gone viral on Thursday.

The video was taken from a security camera footage in New Square, and has Wednesday’s date and time stamp on it.

Watch as a woman is crossing the street (in the crosswalk), when a Rockland County Sheriff slowly drives right into the woman.

Thankfully, the woman was not injured.

  1. NEXT TIME BEFORE YOU CROSS , PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO CAR COMING , AND DON’T ASSUME THE CAR DRIVER SEES YOU. AS I SEE THIS VIDEO , THE WOMEN DID NOT LOOK BOTH WAYS TO SEE IF IT WAS CLEAR.

  2. Chasidish or not, it’s her fault for crossing after the car already came to a full stop, looked, and then was already in the intersection when she decided that kidush Hashem is not important.
If a car is already in the intersection or has begun a turn before you started to cross, don’t cross!

  3. To Yosse: You took the words right out of my mouth. One of my chief complaints of vision Zero is just this. All they talk about is the driver. They should be telling pedestrians don’t assume a driver sees you. There could be sun glare. At night at especially at corners it can be very dim. Hashem yirachaim.

  4. Drivers and pedestrians…. We BOTH need to brush up on our skills and start respecting the roads and sidewalks, especially in our heavy populated areas!
    Im hashem lo yishmor ir………….

  5. She wasn’t looking around to see if a car was coming. We should learn a lesson from this.
Look carefully all around as you cross. In case you are talking on the phone while walking, put it down for the 2 minutes it takes to cross. Whether you drive or cross the street always look out for the other one.

  6. It’s the cops fault as pedestrians always have the right of way. And she needs to be aware when crossing which she wasn’t.

  7. @ Shimon Nodel &Yosse
idiots, she did look, a cursory glance like anyone else does. she saw two stopped vehicles, anyone would assume that they saw her… so she went.

  8. @shimon Nodel
Your comment is repulsive, you manage to stick in kiddush Hashem there like the unproud Jew you are. What Kiddush Hashem? SHE was in the crosswalk before he was in the intersection. get real, or get glasses

  9. This is frightening. No way he did not see her. She was distracted by the car near her and then looked up to see the sheriff car. People get distracted when crossing the street and sometimes forget to check the other way as well. But this doesn’t happen. He was able to stop smoothly so he obviously saw her. if not he would have stopped more abruptly.

  10. Shimon Model, what are you talking about? The car did NOT come to a full stop at all. If you don’t know what a full stop looks like then look at the grey vehicle that came to a FULL STOP as the law requires. And the woman was already crossing as the car rolled into the intersection. Yes, the woman should have been more aware of her surroundings, but don’t blame the victim.

  11. Yosse and Shimon, the law is clear: the driver is 100% at fault. Didn’t you pass a written exam to get your driver’s license? You should know this.

    The law states:
S 1151. Pedestrians’ right of way in crosswalks. (a) When
traffic-control signals are not in place or not in operation the driver
of a vehicle shall yield the right of way, slowing down or stopping if
need be to so yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within a
crosswalk on the roadway upon which the vehicle is traveling, except
that any pedestrian crossing a roadway at a point where a pedestrian
tunnel or overpass has been provided shall yield the right of way to all
    vehicles.
    (b) No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety
and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close that it is
impractical for the driver to yield.
    (c) Whenever any vehicle is stopped at a marked crosswalk or at any
unmarked crosswalk at an intersection to permit a pedestrian to cross
the roadway, the driver of any other vehicle approaching from the rear
shall not overtake and pass such stopped vehicle

  12. @Shimon Nodel I believe the law in New York is that if a pedestrian is in the crosswalk drivers have to stop, might be wrong but here in Monsey police were giving tickets for that.

  13. The lady had the right of way as a pedestrian in a crosswalk, still it was foolish to start crossing when the car had already begun to accelerate. We need to be more in tune to the people around us and not just be wrapped up in ourselves.

  14. Shimon you are both blind and stupid. She actually started walking BEFORE the police started driving. Secondly the police stopped at a different crosswalk, not that one. Either way, by law the pedestrian has the right of way no matter who what where first.
Besides for the above you’re a racist as well. Not a bad resume I must say!

  15. Look closely, she was in the intersection first (just not in the scope of the camera) -obviously though, you don’t want to be DEAD right!

  16. Shimon nodel,
You cannot see the whole crosswalk in the video. It seems from the video that she started walking a split second before he started driving. I’m also not sure what kiddush hashem has to do with it. If the pedestrian is in the crosswalk, the pedestrian has right of way.

  17. Look closely and u will see she started to veer a bit to the left of the cross walk as the cop car approaches her, which would indicate that she saw the car coming. Question is why did she continue to allow the car to make contact with her?? Did she see a $$ in a lawsuit? Or maybe she has cataracts which messed her up. Who knows?

  18. Shimon, in yiddish there is a saying – far a nar veist men nisht a halba zach… aka for a stupid dont show half… the entire video you can clear see– how she looks around befor she starts crossings….
Besides the LAW of hit and run – you need to wait for Ambulance and wait on the scene what the officer didnt follow.. and a civilian would of get arrested for leaving a scene of an accident….. its nice to see how you come to conclusion and judge a fellow jewish victim who follows the protcol and walks on a crosswalk.. its unbelievable your hate…

  19. You know what, everyone here is just itching for a scandal
I just watched the video again.
She never fell. Look at her shadow on the hood of the police car.
Then the driver going the other direction keeps going.
Don’t you think had the lady gotten hit, they would have stopped???
Obviously the cop stopped just short of hitting her.
The jerk may even have done it on purpose to ”teach her a lesson ”about crossing safety or about the superiority of low life cops. But nowhere do you have proof that he actually hit her

  20. Law suit!!!

    Time to get rich!!!

Neck and back pain. Head aches. Depression. Fear to cross streets. Loss of interest in life’s enjoyments. Cannot work anymore – must pass up lucrative job offer. Cannot do house chores or cooking – needs to hire full time help.

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  21. As a sheriff if he was not distracted by his cell phone he should have known better even if you want to say she should have looked.I think he saw a try to scare her to teach her a lesson to pay attention before crossing which that in itself is retarded

  22. We have to be a good example to others, no matter what walk of life, whether they are too the far right or the far left. We need have clarity and see where we’re going in life, not just go ahead without seeing others

  23. takes 2 to tango
and yur probably a russian asset working for hillary to support white extremists in hate crimes to win the passion of the blah blahblah… you know what, lets just suffice with grow T H up you moron

  24. It’s hard to respect someone who does disrespects himself.

According to the law, this video clearly shows that the sheriff illegally drove into the crosswalk with a pedestrian in the crosswalk, possibly hitting her. Anyone who took driver’s ed knows this, and it is the law (as I reprinted above).

Instead of staying silent or sympathizing with the victim, most commenters here criticize the woman. There is no ambiguity here, there is nothing to debate. This is open-and-shut.

If we do not respect ourselves, why should we expect others to respect us?
