AFTER DEBLASIO APOLOGIZES AND CALLS FOR “RESET”: Inspectors Flooding Boro Park And Flatbush Like Never Before [PHOTOS]

Just yesterday the Socialist Mayor of NYC, the Honorable Bill DeBlasio, issued a “rare apology” to the Jewish community for the way the city has been responding, and said “we absolutely need a positive reset”. Keeping to his word, the Mayor has “reset” the out-of-control inspections in Boro Park and Flatbush.

YWN is being inundated with reports that inspectors from the NYC Buildings Department are once again flooding the Jewish communities of Boro Park and Flatbush.

Inspectors are not only visiting Yeshivas, but going into one business after the next, harassing businesses that are already on the verge of going out of business due to the COVID-19 pandemic

On Tuesday evening, NYC Chaim Deutsch tweeted a video of a store owner (a deli) who was issued a summons for “having his door open”. This business-owner had his store doing takeout only, and when a customer stood in the doorway to place his order, an inspector pounced on him, and gave him a hefty fine.

Another business (in Flatbush), Sophies Bistro, hung a sign on their dairy restaurant saying they are being forced to temporary close due to “Deblasio’s and Cumos anti-Semitic restrictions”. The store-owner tells YWN that he has had inspectors visit his establishment multiple times each day this week – despite only doing takeout and curbside delivery.

Meanwhile, one city employee pushed back and told YWN that the enforcement is not only in Boro Bark’s Jewish community, but in other areas as well. Another source told YWN that “not one summons was issued by NYC on Tuesday”, but that appears to be a blatant lie. YWN is in possession of a stack of summonses that were issued on Tuesday to small-businesses owners – nearly all of whom were following the rules exactly as required.

Here are three summonses issued on Tuesday to Yeshivas – two of which were CLOSED. One Yeshiva was given two summonses. One for $1,000 and one for $15,000.

At a news conference Tuesday morning Mayor de Blasio said: “I think we absolutely need a positive reset. We really took our time to talk through everything that happened from the beginning of the pandemic and how painful it’s been for everyone and how confusing it’s been. But I think what the meeting really helped me to appreciate is that so many people in the community have suffered and they need to know that we, as the city government, understand their suffering, understand the difficulties the community has gone through, understand the fears that people have rightfully of discrimination, and that we need to hear each other more and understand each other more.

“I did express my regrets… I look back now and understand there was just more dialogue that was needed. I certainly got very frustrated at times when I saw large groups of people still out without masks, but I think more dialogue would have been better. So I certainly want to express my regret that I didn’t figure out how to do that better, and obviously, you know, that one night in Williamsburg, I let my frustration and concern get away with me and I should have been more careful in my language. I’ve expressed my apology for that before, but I think it was a good, honest conversation about how hard it is to get people in the community to understand in an ever-changing environment why the information coming from the government is something they can have faith in when there’s been so many changes.”

Thanks for the “reset” today, Mr. Mayor.

  1. Does anyone believe that De Blasio will not treat this situation like a cash cow? He has empowered his inspectors to ticket anyone, honestly or not, and fine them into bankruptcy. We New Yorkers can do either of two things. Move away. Vote straight Republican. The anti-Semitism here is so obvious. I said before that neither Cuomo nor De Blasio can be trusted for anything. They have subscribed to a doctrine that adores the use of dishonesty.

  2. My kids tell me that Sophies Bistro has good food. I hope they can fight this ticket and have it dismissed. They clearly were following the guidelines and the lowlife who gave him the ticket is probably getting a commission on every violation he illegally hands out. As always, this City thrives on hypocrocy. They claim it’s so dangerous to venture outside in these red zones that they’ve shut all schools and businesses, but yet they have NOT cancelled alternate side parking regulations! Being that it’s so dangerous and deadly outside, is it worth even one citizen dying from Covid just to go out and move his stupid car???

  3. @5T – It costs $ to challenge them in court too! & we already saw. form your other comments that you care little for our community. Maybe you work for Deblasio… you definitely share his hate.

  4. Remember these summons go infront of adminstrative judges who are employees if the agency giving the tickets. They are not real judges, and have a very high conviction rate compared to the regular court system. the judge is basically the prosecutor. The burden of proof is in the defendant.

(Deblassio saw that he can get away with flooding our neighborhood on a given day with traffic tickets and nobody says a word. Our are has always been a redzone of parking tickets. I drive all over brooklyn, and the are plenty of area full of double parked cars blocking traffic, cars parked by hydrant and the was never enforcement.)

Discrimination comes in many forms. In germany for example, it was through enforcing “laws”
Uneven enforcement of laws is discrimination whether it’s “stop and frisk” or if it’s aggressive regulation enforcement. Not to mention the many tickets being given out for nothing wrong. It’s a huge expenses and pain to fight any ticket, even one that can be clearly shown to be defective.

  5. Great, let him send in the inspectors, and everyone follow the rules – wear a mask and social distance. That would be a real reset. It might even help the numbers go down.

  6. They will try to extend the red-zone until after the election.
They will try to stop us from voting. Or at least use the mail for voting, so they can commit all kinds of fraud.
    This is where it’s at.
    But… We daven!

  7. The Mayor is just plain lying about being apologetic, he is a sadist. He wants the money for the city and the passive Hassidic Jews are just an easy target. He would not do this in different areas of the city. He would not do this in Italian neighborhoods, they would get after him.

  8. wonder No ticketes in Bed-styu , Harlem ? No stores , around ?
or they would fix up those so called Inspectors …………………..

  9. 5TResident – Any summons that is unlawfully given can be challenged in court. Period.
    ***
Do you believe court will rule against Cuomo and De Blasio? Do not be so naive

  10. Where are our “bleeding heart” Liberal lawyers who defend the “victims” pro-bono? Why don’t we bring a Class-Action suit against this blatant discrimination?

  11. The way to fight back is vote straight down republican. Now we have a chance to beat Nadler too. Upper west side hates him now too.

  12. It’s no contradiction to a reset. Actually the biggest act of love that he could do for us is to make stricter and stricter laws until it gets safe

  13. Sean:
First, they did follow the rules.
Second, even if – IF – some did not follow the rules, nothing gives the governing authorities the right to turn the State and City into a modern but still frightening combination of Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany.

  14. No Politician

    Would so Clearly

    Target Just One Racial Group

    Jews

    For Huge Fines and Summonses,

    Unless They were SURE,

    That their VOTER FRAUD

    Was Foolproof Assuredly

That the Dem Fraud will “ Vote” them in.

  15. MESSAGE FROM THE SANITATION DEPT.

Attention all inspectors, journalists, whistleblowers, and Jew haters:
We are in dire need of more sanitation workers. You are flooding the city collecting trash; you might as well earn an honest living. Please report to the Recruitment Dept. as soon as possible.

  16. You keep calling the Mayor the “socialist mayor” as if you are knocking him. Without social programs in NY State, tens if not hundreds of thousands of Orthodox families would not be able to pay their Brooklyn rents, or fund their Yeshivot. I have come across more than my share of Jewish objection to social programs for any group who isn’t Jewish, but quietly support every social program that helps Jews. You can’t have it both ways unless your racist.
