Official: Russia Knew In Advance Of Syrian Chemical Attack

A senior U.S. official says the United States has concluded that Russia knew in advance of Syria’s chemical weapons attack last week.

The official says a Russian-operated drone flew over a hospital in Syria as victims of the attack were rushing to get treatment.

Hours after the drone left, a Russian-made fighter jet bombed the hospital in what American officials believe was an attempt to cover up the usage of chemical weapons.

Until Monday, U.S. officials had said they weren’t sure if the drone was operated by Russia or Syria. The senior official said it still wasn’t clear who was flying the jet that bombed the hospital.

The official said the presence of the drone couldn’t have been a coincidence, and that Russia must have known the chemical weapons attack was coming and that victims were seeking treatment.

The official wasn’t authorized to speak publicly on intelligence matters and demanded anonymity.

  1. If Putin actually was complicit in this gas attack, its hard to see that we can ever find “common ground” with this rasha under any circumstances. There is a moral line that even Trump will have to acknowledge that preempts any other strategic interest we may have in “cooperation”.

  2. To No. 3

I guess your right….in his comments late today, Trump was still talking about Putin being a “great leader” and saying he was still hoping “we can have good relations with Russia”. It guess this obsession with Putin and the Russians trumps normal moral boundaries

  3. Re comment 4: Not to beat a dead horse, but I think Trump is bound by nothing other than his own ego and desires. Normal boundaries are wherever he wants them, and he will move the walls on those boundaries as soon as he wants to, no matter how beautiful those walls are. His 2 divorces –
to site one example – show no evidence of his sticking to moral boundaries.

I don’t know what Trump voters thought they voted for, but I think they voted for a guy who thinks the world is his personal blank check, and he makes it payable to himself.
