  1. No doubt that’s what ‘the Sar Shulem’ meant when he said “Belz vet zein a vinkel fahr toirah v’yiras shumaim”.
    Another ‘great’ Kiddush Hashem!

  2. Say what you will, regardless of the venue, SL has the most beautiful voice, ba”h! He could sing almost anything and it’s breathtaking!

  3. Shulem, may you continue to use the beautiful gift Hashem has given you for good.

@Gollem123, the misyavnim were not shomer shabbos, bris milah or kashrus. Shulem has his rabbanim and consults them. Please keep any lashon hara or rechilus to yourself.

  4. jdb: You are so right, they started with just taking part of the Greek culture, which then led to them to be not Shomer Shabbos, no Bris Milah and no Kashrus.

  5. This pattern of thought that we can be good Jews, but we just need to be more like our gentile neighbor is not new. That was the fundamental premise of Moses Mendelson the father of the Reform Movement in Germany. We have now the benefit of hindsight to see how this thought ends.

  6. I am sure the goyim are all going to love us now that they see a chasidishe yid singing God bless America
On a side note, when he sings my home sweet home, is eretz yisroel not our home?

  7. @ocho sinco first off – nice name! Your question unfortunately has an easy answer. Some people just like to hate, that’s who they are. They only look to see negatives. Don’t mistake this for taking either side of this debate I’m just answering your question.

  8. He has a magnificent tenor voice, not unlike other great Jewish tenors like Jan Peerce and Jacob Pincus Perelmuth (both of who sang at Giants games).

  9. Has anyone ever wondered why Helfgott doesn’t get to sing at these events? It’s isn’t because he’s not good enough. It’s because he isn’t under contract with a major record label and therefore doesn’t have the connections to do so. Shulem does and I’m sure he spoke with Rabbonim before he signed. This is his parnassah and while I don’t know if it’s a kiddush Hashem it certainly isn’t a chillul Hashem. I’m sure as part of his contract he has obligations to perform at events to further the record labels PR and as such there is nothing wrong with it.
Shulem we wish you all the best and continued hatzlacha in your career.
