Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) viciously attacked President Trump on Wednesday, calling him a “monster” after the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced a probe into the city’s hiring practices for potential racial bias. The investigation follows Johnson’s recent comments at a church in Woodlawn, Ill., where he boasted about hiring more Black people in his administration.

“As far as, you know, the president’s animus towards women, people of color, working people, we have always known who he has been,” Johnson said during a Wednesday press conference. “This is not a surprise. He’s a monster.”

“We have the most diverse administration in the history of Chicago, and he is threatened by that,” he added.

Johnson’s approval rating, however, tells a different story. Recent polls show him with a dismal 6.6% approval and a staggering 80% disapproval, marking one of the lowest ratings of any elected official in U.S. history.

The DOJ’s inquiry was sparked by Johnson’s Sunday remarks at the Apostolic Church of God, where the mayor, who is Black, claimed he hired more Black people because they’re the “most generous people on Earth.”

Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon responded in a letter to Johnson on Monday, writing, “If these kind of hiring decisions are being made for top-level positions in your administration, then it begs the question whether such decisions are also being made for lower-level positions.”

Johnson’s office released a demographic breakdown of his staff, showing 34.3% Black, 30.5% white, 23.8% Hispanic, and 6.7% Asian employees, according to local outlet ABC7.

  1. This is a guy who as a 7th grade teacher had a time-out chair that he designated for HIMSELF! (that is what they said he told the Chicago community when he was elected. 🙂

  2. Yaapchik: That sounds rude. You can make your point without being inappropriate.
You’re also wrong, Chicago does not have the highest crime rate.

This mayor is playing dodgeball when Chicago politics is hardball. He is out of his league.
(I live here and it’s not been an effective admin.)
