Public Advocate Bill de Blasio Endorses Joe Lazar For City Council

New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio announced his endorsement of Joe Lazar for City Council in the special election to fill the soon-to-be vacant seat in Brooklyn’s 44th Councilmanic District.

“I am proud to support Joe Lazar for City Council,” said de Blasio. “Joe is an exceptional leader with a long proven track record of securing services and funding for his community in essential areas like health care, education and affordable housing.”

“I am honored to receive Public Advocate de Blasio’s endorsement in this special election for City Council,” said Joe Lazar. “I believe that an elected official’s most important job is to be the public’s advocate. The fact that Bill de Blasio, the person who all the people of New York City chose to be our advocate, is endorsing my candidacy, I believe speaks volumes about what I aim to achieve in the City Council. No one will fight harder for the residents and businesses of Borough Park, Midwood and Bensonhurst than I will.”

Even though Mayor Bloomberg has not yet officially declared the special election to fill Councilman Simcha Felder’s seat, who is resigning to become a Deputy Comptroller, Joe Lazar is already compiled a long list of formidable endorsements from elected officials, including Congressman Edolphus Towns, Assemblyman Dov Hikind, Assemblyman, Peter J. Abbate, Jr. Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, State Senator Kevin S. Parker, Councilmember Matthieu Eugene and Councilmember Brad Lander.

Though Lazar is a first-time candidate for office, he is a veteran of city and state government. He was one of the early members of Community Board 12 (appointed in 1972 by then City Councilman Howard Golden), and chair of CB 12’s budget committee. He has also served as NYC Regional Director of the NYS Office of Mental Health and Budget Director for the NYC Department of Buildings. In these various important economic positions, Lazar successfully brought hundreds of millions of dollars of funding into his community.

  1. GREENFIELD FOR CITY COUNCIL.

HIKIND HAS PRESSURED THE AGUDA THAT UNLESS THEY GET THE YESHIVOS TO BACK HIS CANDIDATE, HE WILL NOT DELIVER ONE MORE PENNY TO THEM. THIS AFTER HIM BEING MEVAZE THE GEDOLIM AND THE AGUDA ONHIS RADIO SHOW WITH RESPECT TO THE MARKEY BILL AND HIS INFLATED CLAIMS OF MOLESTATION.

Hikind claims that Joe Lazar has brought MILLIONS into the community “mosdos” over the past years. Why can’t the yeshivos make payroll?

SHOW US THE MONEY, in whose pocket did it go?

Does Hikind mean Ohel? Speak to Asher Lipner about Ohel. He used to work at Ohel.

Read Hamodia Magazine regarding record Poverty in Boro Park!

Ask Tomchei Shabas regarding record Poverty in Boro Park.

Ask Masbia regarding record Poverty in Boro Park!

We still have the KIDs @ Risk despite the millions that Dov claims to have received from Albany. In whose pocket did the money go?

Ask Asher Lipner, why he no longer appears on the Dov Hikind Show and no longer works for OHEL.

Dov, your gig is up. Time for change with proven results. DAVID CAN SHOW US THE MONEY, DOV CAN YOU?

By the way, Dov who pays for all those trips to Israel??

AND WHY DO YOU HAVE MILLIONS IN YOUR CAMPAIGN WAR CHEST THAT YOU TAKE WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVB OFFICE. YOU HAVEN’T HAD AN OPPONENT IN YEARS. WHY DO YOU HAVE FUNDRAISERS FOR “CAMPAIGNS”???

  2. Bensonhurst, Boro Park and Midwood voters should go out and support David Greenfield come election day. Who does Hikind think he is- Daas Torah? I’ll tell you who he is. He’s an uncontested assemblyman in a Jewish district with no one with guts to stand up against him as he will strong-arm everyone against you. He is someone who has hardly accomplished anything for his constituence (except if he owns a house in the Shomron) besides taking up on other potential askanim e.g. Felder, Dear and now Greenfield. It’s simple math, Greenfield with a mind of his own and being a young fellow has much potential becoming a politician of the higher caliber, thus a threat to Hikind, vs. Joe Lazar a pawn for Hikind, up to retire upon the completion of his council term is the best this for this power-hungry, same-old-politics politician. Dov, PLEASE mind your own business and let voters vote based upon their own decision and don’t use institutions and organization that recieve grants through you to push them against their own consciense.

  3. Any reason why Dov Hikind took a swipe at Yeshiva World News tonight as he ended his radio show?
Let me rephrase that….. on his deplorable radio show?

His lashon hara-filled deplorable show, that has zero daas torah behind it?

    Get a life Dov.

And find yoursef a real job. Your charade is almost over.

  4. Greenfield better watch out.
Lazar has 7 people from sasregen Shul voting for him.

And 8 of his kids friends.

    What a joke.

    GO DAVID!

  5. Lazar’s campaign has hired the “dirtiest” campaign manager in NY State.

This is after they said what a “clean campaign” they will be running.

  6. The Greenfield supporters can bash Joe Lazar all they want, but they can’t talk about his unmatched 40 year record of serving our community, without burning a single bridge.

I would be nice to see his supporters say some positive things about him rather than the same old tired stuff knocking Hikind that appears on every thread about this race.

And why does a de Blasio endorsement morph into a Dov Hikind discussion.

  7. I think we should all call Dov and ask him questions he is an elected offical and as such owes up answers. We pay his salary … Dont let him dodge questions!

Moderators Response: Cell phone number removed.

  8. DAVID GREENFIELD is the only way to go.
David has proven that he is an honest, sincere individual who has worked for the community’s best interest in mind. With immense yiras shamayim, he has been able to bring tremendous positivie result in favor of the Jewish community in such a short amount of time. Immagine what he will be able to do to benefit the Jewish community as a city councilman!
    Hatzlacha to you David

  9. Throughout our history there have been cases of BAD teachers turning out GOOD disciples, e.g. Acher, among others.

I wouldn’t go so far as to compare Dov Hikind with Acher, but he is also the example of a BAD, rottten apple, but, to his credit, put out 2 VERY GOOD public servants: 1) Simcha Felder, and 2) Joe Lazar.

I have known Joe for maybe 30 years now. He as honest, selfless and hard-working a straight-shooter as you can get. We owe him at least the hakarat hatov to vote for him in a time when he is running for public office.

Joe has done an IMMENSE amount of good for individuals and for the public. He HAS saved/accrued millions of $$$ for just about all of Boro Park’s mosdos. Stop asking which pocket the money went to. Korach and his cronies were also able to discredit Moshe Rabbenu and the entire Torah Mishamayim by way of laitzanut, and it took an unprercedented punishment to get the reins of control back to Moshe. So stop being like Korach V’adato! Have hakaras hatov for people who are veteran doers of good for the tzibur.

This David Greenfield doesn’t seem to have any substance. He is a skilled, empty politician of which we have more than enough. He has NO experience and zero know-how, but the cutest smile, and a more handsome physique than Joe Lazar. That won’t get us anywhere.

    GO JOE GO!!! ALEH V’HATZLACH!!!

  10. DaasTorahWtchdg says:
“He HAS saved/accrued millions of $$$ for just about all of Boro Park’s mosdos.”

I am a menahel of a mosod and have spoken wiyh many other menahalim. NOT 1 ever received a penny from Lazar. IF he ever was a conduit for government money, it appears that it did not make its way to the community organizations. INTERESTING, NOT ONE MOSOD CLAIMS TO HAVE RECEIVED MONEY VIA LAZAR.

DOV AND LAZAR, WHERE DID THE MONEY GO?????
