A hachnasas sefer Torah in memory of Ilan Mor HY”D was held in the chiloni community of Kibbutz Ein Gev. A number of rabbonim took part in the event, including Rabbi Shlomo Didi, Rav of the Emek HaYarden Regional Council area. Also present was Shas MK Yitzchak Vaknin and regional and local officials and family members and friends.
Ilan Mor fell in the line of duty in Lebanon in 5747 as a member of the IDF Combat Engineers. He died trying to save others and he was interred in the kibbutz.
MK Vaknin spoke a bit about the kibbutz, among the first in the area, praising the construction of a shul that is used on Friday nights, yomim tovim and for special occasions. He expressed his hope that more non-frum communities will agree to build shuls towards “narrowing the gap between different segments of Israeli life.”
The participants completed writing the Sefer Torah, and then the procession brought it to the shul and they concluded with mincha.
