Sanzer Rebbe To Ohanas: “There’s Lofty Neshamos That Come To The World For A Few Years”

On Wednesday morning, the Sanzer Rebbe was menachem avel the Ohana family, who lost two small children in a fire in Netanya, which also destroyed their home, a B’Chadrei Chareidim report said.

“We as believing Jews know that there are things that we can’t understand,” the Sanzer Rebbe told the grieving parents. “Our obligation is to daven for the coming of Moshiach. Then we’ll understand everything and realize that everything was for the good – like it says: ‘Then our mouths will be filled with laughter and our tongues with joy.’ What we cry over today and can’t comprehend, we’ll understand in the future and rejoice and know that it was good.”

“It’s known that there are lofty neshamos in Shamayim. They ask to descend to this world for all types of reasons, even for just a few years. These are not simple things. It’s clear that there are other reasons – since we don’t understand these matters.”

“My father (the Shefa Chaim of Sanz, z’tl), lost not only his wife and 11 children in the Holocaust but his entire extended family as well, numbering about 200 people. He and another nephew were the only ones left.”

“Hakadosh Boruch Hu gave him the strength to survive and rehabilitate himself and Klal Yisrael. Hakadosh Boruch Hu gives special strength to people [in such situations]. It’s a great zechus that people are being mechazek – a great zechus for you and Am Yisrael.

“We as Jews know that we receive sechar for mitzvahs and punishment for aveiros. We don’t understand the cheshbonos of Shamayim – there are no questions because there’s no answers. But we believe there’s a reason. It’s clear that the neshamos above are rejoicing, they’re in the best place.”

The parents requested a bracha from the Rebbe that their current grief will be easier to bear – that they’ll merit to believe without questions. The Rebbe answered them that it involves being mechazek in the basic emunah that every Jew has.

“Tzadikim said, either there are no questions or there are no answers. We have a pure emunah in Hakadosh Baruch Hu and when Moshiach comes everything will become clear and we’ll understand that it was necessary to be exactly like this.”

A fund was launched on The Chesed Fund to assist the family.

  1. His father zatzal used to be מנחם אבל parents who lost children. He knew the pain better than anyone. He’s been known to have said to them that you can continue on. He lost his Rebbitzen and 11 children during the war. And, said he, you can move on! This Rebbie comes from amazing stock!
