Two Senior Israel Electric Officials Being Sacked for Vacationing during the Blizzard

firedTwo Israel Electric Company heads of workers committees for utility company engineers will be dismissed from their posts after it was learned they traveled to Eilat together with 200 IEC engineers for a continuing education getaway during the blizzard. The two arranged the event, and they decided there was no reason to cancel it due to the blizzard.

As the capital, Tzfas, Yehuda, Shomron, the Galil, Golan Heights and other areas were paralyzed by the heaviest winter storm in over a century, the two senior IEC officials saw nothing wrong with heading south to Eilat for their planned continuing education getaway, to bask in the sun of the southern resort city and have a good time while many areas of the nation were in a weather state of emergency.

During a session of the Knesset Economic Committee on Tuesday 14 Teves 5774, IEC Executive Director Yiftach Ron-Tal explained the utility company has already notified the two senior officials that they are being terminated as a result of their actions during the blizzard.

Miko Tzarfati, who heads the utility’s workers union, expressed outrage over the action of the two. He explained that while 12,900 employees were working around-the-clock in harsh conditions, these guys were in Eilat having a good time.
