From the YWN archives:
In one of his shiurim, HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Zilberstein explained that his father-in-law, Maran HaGaon Rav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita would on erev Shavuos visit the sick, remembering that we learn that prior to giving Bnei Yisrael the Torah on Shavuos, Hashem healed all the sick, including the blind, deaf and mute – all were healed.
Rav Elyashiv explained to a sick man that every year, on Shavuos, this power is renewed. This is a time when one may call upon Hashem and asked to be healed; even for such illnesses that we generally feel there is no cure.
It was asked at what time on yomtov may one ask for a refuah. Rav Elyashiv pondered for a moment and stated the time is when we read the Aseres HaDibros in the torah reading.

Amazing!!!!!!!
The title of this article should read: “Rav Elyashiv – Shavuos, a time for healing” Its not erev shavuos.
May all those in need of a refuah be zoche to one.
Rather than being picky about titles and times, we should consider that any time is a time of healing. HE is out there for us; and all we need to do is reach out to be healed. There is another type of healing that we should consider…. That is, the healing between us and our fellow Yehud (I used the Arabic pronunciation). We should reach out and make healing with our fellow Jew be they more “frum” or less or if they come from a different part of the world or a different region. We should consider that any time is a time to being healing.
Chag Samaich to all!
In this spirit, please daven/learn this Shavuos on behalf of a Talmid Chochom in a coma- Akiva Shamai ben Ahava Rivka. If you could learn just a little bit more than planned for him, it would be a tremendous zechus. Thank you.
Maybe that’s why the Lubavitcher Rebbe Z”TL made it incumbent and requested that every Jew hear the Aseres Hadibros on Shevuos, man, woman and every child, including new borns.
