An estimated 2,000 Israeli Arabs supported by Arab members of Knesset took part in a Saturday memorial march in the northern community of Sachnin, commemorating the October 2000 Israeli Arab violent riots that led to the deaths of 13, shot by police as the violence escalated. Similar marches took place in other Israeli Arab municipalities, including Kfar Kana, Nazareth, Um el-Fahm ad Rahat.
The marchers carried photos of the martyrs who were killed in the violence as the second so-called Intifada got underway.
