Likud MK Yehuda Glick Heads To Arad To Make Peace

Following a Shabbos of machlokes between Gerrer Chassidim and secular residents of Arad, Likud MK decided to cancel his calendar and take the time to head south to Arad in the hope of becoming a peace-maker.

Glick met with the mayor and following the meeting, he told the media he feels City Hall is genuine when releasing remarks that there is no prejudice against Gur. Glick explained the secularists erred, not aware the sign poking fun at the Gerre Rebbe Shlita with their sign.

At City Hall, he explained on the one hand, Gerre represents a large segment of the city’s population and on the other hand, there is a great deal of anger towards the chassidim as the community feels threatened.

Glick sat with some of the members of the Gerrer tzibur, who explained the secularists do not realize to what extent the poster insulted the Rebbe Shlita. Glick feels there are those on either side wishing to maintain a dialogue while unfortunately, there are those who prefer things as they are; namely machlokes.

Glick’s message “In war, no one wins but through dialogue everyone is a winner and I call on both sides to speak for this is the outcome we wish to see here”.

  1. Mr. Korais will make peace. Something wrong with that picture. Other people will respect gdolim because he says so and won’t look at what he does going on tge har habayis.

  2. Chaim – you may not agree with MK Glick re: the Har HaBayis, but he has poskim that he relies on who allow him to go. Which poskim are you relying on in speaking either Lashon Harah or Motzei Shem Ra about him?

  3. Sorry, anIsraelyid, I have no argument with you but I learned shmiras halashon several times and this is none of what you claim. I won’t say more on the subject because of where the conversation may go but I don’t and won’t retract what I said.

Be careful whom your criticizing and whose side you take. Neutrality is not always an option.

  4. Chaim – but did you ever learn Hilchos Beis HaBechira? If you had, you’d know that there is NO issur Kares to go on the Har HaBayis when Tamei Meis – the only issur is to go into the Makom HaAzara. All forms of Tumah that make it Assur to go onto other parts of the Har HaBayis can be removed by a Mikva. This is basic Halacha, and agreed to by all Rabbonim – the issue is what the practical approach should be in today’s time.

The reasons modern Poskim say that one should not go onto any part of the Har HaBayis are three-fold – 1, they say that we are not certain where the exact Makom HaAzara is, so one may inadvertantly walk there; 2, while some will be Makpid to go to a Mikva (with full Chafifa), the “Hamon Am” will not understand this, and therefore will go onto the Har b’Tumah; and 3, the issue of inciting the Arabs causes this to be Pikuach Nefesh. All of these are good reasons, but they do not make someone who goes up WITH proper precautions and stays in areas that are far from any place that may have been part of the Azara chayav Kares as you state.

So, learn some Halacha, and then apply it. I’m not being “neutral” as you say – I’m using knowledge of normative Halacha in one area to call you out for your uncalled for name-calling.

  5. Israeli yid, you are incorrect. Tumas zav needs a river, not a mikva. I learned those halachos too. Tumas zav of 3 days needs a korbon. As far as not knowing where parts of the mikdash are, that’s a reason to be machmir since the rule is sofek d’oraisa l’chumra and sofek tuma in this case is also l’chumra. Causing the hamon am to do avairos has always been a concern not the minor issue you seem to be shrugging off.
We can live quite comfortably without getting involved in needless avairos chamuros. The soton knows how to masquerade as a tzadik too.
Our job is to learn and do mitzvos. Going on the har habayis is not a mitzva especially when trifling with an issur of korais. It doesn’t increase the stature of the sinner it just shows his lack of yiras shamayim.

  6. Chaim – I should have been more precise and said “Tevila” rather than “Mikva” – and any running water is fine for a Zav, not only a river. In any case, there are many shitos who whold that a Zav does not exist today, and it is an unusual circumstance – so my larger point holds.

As to whether the three reasons given are good reasons not to go up – yes, they absolutely are, and I in no way “shrug them off”. But this does not answer my original point that calling MK Glick “Mr. Korais” as a way to denigrate him in an unrelated story is unwarranted Motzi Shem Ra. I am quite certain that MK Glick, no Am HaAretz, went through whatever Tevila necessary to go on the Har HaBayis, and there are most certainly parts of the Har HaBayis that we know beyond doubt were not part of the Azara. You (and I) may not want to go on the Har HaBayis due to the reasons given, but inaccurately calling MK Glick names is Motzi Shem Ra and causes Sinas Chinam.

And going on the Har HaBayis is, in fact, a Mitzva according to some Shitos…

  7. Suit yourself – so long as you think next time before posting something that is likely Motzi Shem Ra, I’m happy.

A Shana Tova to you as well.
