Israeli Abducted In Nigeria B’H Released With Assistance Of Foreign Ministry


Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, 5 Adar during the afternoon hours announced that a 62-Israeli citizen was abducted on erev Shabbos, Rosh Chodesh Adar, from the outskirts of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

The citizen works for an Israeli company in Nigeria and was kidnapped by armed men for ransom purposes. During the gunfight that accompanied the kidnapping, the civilian driver was killed while he was taken to an unknown location.

After lengthy negotiations between the kidnappers and the CEO of the company in which the civilian and security personnel worked, the hostage was released on Tuesday morning 5 Adar. The Foreign Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry and the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria, including the Ambassador, Mr. Guy Feldman, Consul Nadav Goren and the Embassy Security Officer were involved and assisted in all matters with the relevant authorities in Israel and in Israel.
