Holyland Defendant Released From Prison After 2.5 Years

The Israel Prison Service (IPS) parole board has ruled to cut the punishment of prisoner Meir Rabin, a Holyland defendant, who is serving a five-year term. He tried appealing to the High Court of Justice, albeit, without success.

President Reuven Rivlin intervened on his behalf, cutting his sentenced by a year. The parole board reduced the remaining four-year sentence by a third for good behavior. As such, he is now a free man.

It is reported that prior to the Holyland case, Rabin dedicated his life to limud Torah, which he continued in Massiyahu Prison. He gave over many shiurim for inmates, who were pleased to hear of his release on Monday, 12 Tammuz.
