Israel Medical Association Seeks To Halt Advertising All Type Of Cigarettes


The Economics Committee of the Knesset headed by MK Eitan Cabel will discuss on Monday, 6 Marcheshvan, the completion of the amendment to the law to limit the advertisement and marketing of smoking products, including electronic cigarettes. Deputy Minister of Health Yaakov Litzman is expected to participate in the meeting.

In anticipation of the meeting, the physicians’ organizations and the struggle against smoking are calling for the completion of the delay in legislation, legislation that has proven to be effective in reducing the incidence of addictive and lethal smoking, especially among young people and youth.

The Israel Cancer Association, the Association of Public Health Physicians, the Medical Association for Prevention & Termination of Smoking, and the Israel Medical Association for Pediatrics of the Israel Medical Association said on Thursday, “We call upon all the members of the Knesset Economics Committee to help vigorously and join MK Eitan Cabel, MK Yehuda Glick and MK Eyal Ben-Reuven to “urgently approve the Prohibition of Advertising & Restricting Marketing of Smoking and Evaporation Products Act.

“We hope that the law will pass quickly and in its full format, with no cuts and no concessions! Absolute banning and restricting the marketing of smoking products is essential to protect the health and especially the health of youth and young people.”
