PHOTOS: Kosel Preparations Underway Ahead Of Pesach

The Kotel Heritage Foundation is busy preparing for Pesach as is the case every year. One of the areas addressed is the removal of the kvitlach from the Kosel stones, which is done twice annually, before Pesach and before Rosh Hashanah. The removal of the kvitlach, which are placed in genizah, includes having the experts check the integrity of the Kosel stones and this includes the Wilson’s Arch area and other areas.

During the examination, the walls of the Kosel are cleaned from residue of the birds and loose stone parts and loose plaster between the stones are removed/repaired. In an examination conducted this year ahead of Pesach, parts of stone and plaster were removed from the stones of the Kosel.

The actual removal of the kvitlach will take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 10:00 AM.
