As YWN Israel reported, Shmuel Chaim ben Shainda Tzirel is a recently engaged 17-year-old Toldos Aharon Chosid. This past Motzei Shabbos he was seriously injured in a car accident that took place while he was on his way to Meron. He was unconscious for the past three days as a result of the accident. On Tuesday evening, Shmuel woke up in Rambam hospital shocked to learn what had happened to him.
Shmuel was able to recognize his mother who was sitting by his bedside and asked where he was.
The medical team at Rambam Hospital celebrated Shmuel’s progress. “There was great joy among the medical team when Shmuel woke up,” said one of the staff present to Kikar HaShabbat news services. “The fact that he was able to speak and that he recognized his mother were both very positive signs,” he said.
Shmuel has already undergone two surgeries but still has a lot of healing to do and a long road to full recovery but there is now a lot of hope that he will make it.
Shmuel was one of 11 people injured in the head-on crash that occurred on Highway 89 near Meron on Motzei Shabbos. He was treated at the scene by EMS personnel from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was evacuated by helicopter to Rambam hospital. The other ten people involved in the accident were transported to Ziv Hospital in Tzefat.
YWN noted is a previous report that the airbags where he was sitting failed to deploy at the time of the crash.
